Forgive me if this has already been asked- I looked and didn't see anything. We are planning the cloth diaper when baby comes in July. Right now we have mostly Bumgenius freestyles/elementals, and a few fuzzibunz pocket diapers. Can anyone tell me what they do instead of traditional diaper creams? I purchased some earth mama bottom balm but I'm not sure if it's just for rashes or for every day, and wanted to get a feel for people's routines. Thanks in advance!

I don't use it daily, but I use a dab of virgin, unrefined coconut oil or California Baby diaper cream if he's rashy.

Coconut oil. We use it every time and it's never caused an issue with the diapers. I even use a TON when I put it on her. I've only found that I need to use it about once every month or two, and it's when she's either sat in a poop for too long, or had a lot of poops in one day

We don't CD anymore, but we used Weleda Calendula nappy cream - and still do now he's in disposables, I'm pretty sure it's CD safe. I tend to use it every change unless I'm in a real hurry. He's only had a bad rash once, but I did have to resort I non CD safe creams and use disposable liners as nothing else was cutting it.

We only used creams when redness appeared. We either used CJ's BUTTer or EMAB's Angel Baby Bottom Balm.

We use coconut oil, but we also LOVE GroVia's rash stick. It's easy to apply, works GREAT, and is cloth diaper safe.
We also use BumGenius freetimes.

@arden I've been looking at the grovia stick! I thought it seemed like it'd be easy to apply but was unsure how well it would work.

@lauraeabel: I really like it. It goes on great and it works very well. I only use it when I see some redness start to appear (we don't really get rashes) and it's gone overnight.

@Arden: so do you use coconut oil day to day, or is it just not common to use something daily with a cloth diaper?

@Arden: Do you put the stick directly on the skin or use your fingers to dab it on? I have the Grovia stick and wasn't sure so I've been using my fingers!

@lauraeabel: I don't think it's necessary to use something every diaper change. We use coconut oil on her entire body after baths.

@spaniellove: @lauraeabel: I put it directly on her. It has several antibacterial properties so I'm not really worried about it getting contaminated. If I had a second baby I would get two separate sticks though.
