Trying to be brief. T (almost 2) is having diaper area issues. A few months ago it started. He was impossible to put to bed at night because he was grabbing his diaper, twisting his legs, and acting so uncomfortable. He'd be dry and there was no rash or redness at all. Sometimes Desitin would help, sometimes not. It was mostly at night but it would sometimes start during the day right after he peed. I tried everything but nothing worked so I called his doc and they said to switch his diaper brand. Since there was no rash or irritation and plus "boys just grab a lot" they couldn't do much.

I thought that was dumb because he's been in pampers since day 1 with no problems. Ever. But we switched to Huggies and YAY! No more grabbing, itching, twisting, or crying at night.

Now about 2 months after the switch it's happening again. Now it's only in the middle of the night. Not at bedtime or at all during the day. He wakes up a couple of hours after falling asleep and is obviously uncomfortable. He's not wet (he's been consistently holding all night for about a month now) and I check throughly for any irritation but there's nothing.

I'm at a loss. I've tried it all. Last night I just took his diaper off and let him sleep without it, but that didn't even seem to help much. I gave him a low dose of Benadryl (the same dose we give him for skin reactions when he gets them) but that didn't help either. Eventually he falls back asleep after a struggle but still squirms all night. When he wakes up, it's like it never happened.

We'll be introducing the potty soon but it could be a long time before we're diaper free. Any suggestions?
