We use Desitin daily and for 4.5 months we've had absolutely no diaper rash. We just noticed a rash at her last diaper change...should we stick with the Desitin or try Triple Paste? What do you recommend for diaper rash?
I'm assuming this is teething related. My husband and I got nasty diaper rashes as babies when we teethed.

we use the blue desitin at every change, and when DS gets a little bit of a teething rash we mix it with vasoline - works like a charm and doesn't smell like the purple desitin! I just smear both on each cheek and rub it together

I found the maximum strength Desitin or Triple Paste worked best for us. I also changed her as often as possible and let her go diaper-free a lot.

@swedishfish: why do you use it daily?? just curious. If you think it's teething related, I'd use aquaphor as a barrier to keep the moisture off since it's more a reaction to the extra spit in LO's poo. But triple paste works awesome!

I love Boudreaux's ButtPaste! She doesn't get diaper rash often but when she does it clears it up super fast.

@scg00387: she was a little red a few days after she got home from the hospital so we started using it and never stopped. It worked better than the babyganics diaper stuff.

I agree with @scg00387: we use aquaphor as a barrier and desitin when DD has a bad rash.
But we do a lot of diaper changes and wash with water and a little soap when she has a diaper change.

We like Boudreaux's Butt Paste. When LO does have diaper rash we also do baking soda baths, no wipes, and some diaper-free time.

We just use Desitin for diaper rashes, nothing else. I think the big key for us is making sure the area is DRY before applying anything - so I keep a cloth at our changing table so I can dry him off after using wipes on him before applying the Desitin!

Another Boudereaux Butt Paste fan here (green tube). I never used diaper cream on a daily basis though. Just at the first sign of redness or irritation.

Another fan of triple paste, though we definitely only use when needed, and LO very rarely gets diaper rash. We don't like to add extra "stuff" to LO's skin when we don't need to. Triple paste got much better ratings than Desitin on the EWG website (ratings of chemicals in baby products) - 1 vs 5.

Ditto Adira's advice on drying after wiping... I'm also a fan of coconut oil to clear up minor redness, and Triple Paste for a worsening rash. Hope it goes away soon!

LOVE Triple Paste for treating rash. I've never used Desitin but BabyGanics and Boudreaux's Butt Paste never work as well at clearing a rash for us.
