Just curious to know how many people chose NOT to swaddle their babies? I'm kind of on the fence with this. I've seen a lot of infants sleep fine without being swaddled and I wonder how comfortable the baby is if they cant move their hands when they sleep. Did you swaddle?

I swaddled my LO for the first couple days but she didn't like it, she was much more comforftable when she could stretch out.

Every baby is different but we swaddled until 6 months and could easily have continued.

We swaddled for maybe a week? Then let her sleep with her arms over her head.

Liv is 5 months old and is still swaddled. She sleeps terribly without it. Unfortunately, shes rolling over now so we're starting the weaning process

We swaddled for 2 1/2 months. In the beginning she would wake herself up with her jerky arm movements if she wasn't swaddled. I think it just depends on the baby.

Swaddler! We did for 4 months and had to stop due to her getting out of it during the night. Her sleep hasn't been as good since we stopped. Her arms flail through the night and she's a face/eye rub-er.

My daughter smiles when we swaddle her. She's way too old to be swaddled but she just loves it. So we swaddle her as a trigger it's time to go to bed and then within a minute or two her arms are out but she's also half way asleep, it's still her trigger that it's time to sleep.

I never thought I would be a swaddler but we did and she loved it...Until she discovered her thumb. Then we swaddled with with one arm out and she loved it...Until she discovered her other hand. Then we swaddled with both arms out and she loved it...Until she discovered freedom and started breaking out of it. She was 3 months old at this point.
So we stopped. But we use a sleep sack now.

If you read my recent post, you know I'm pro swaddle! However, we have been swaddle-free for about four days now, and it's (mostly) going well!

I only swaddled for the first few days, maybe 5 days. She didn't seem to like it. She sleep better without being swaddled.

we were like Babylove. He just never liked being confined.

RJ slept horribly without a swaddle. So we swaddled until he started to roll over. Then we very reluctantly stopped and spent many, many hours standing over him, holding his arms down until he was deeply sleeping.

I voted "No, never tried", but I did try. He hated it. I hated it. We did it like once, then that was it! He slept better without being swaddled.

It depends on your baby. My nieces and nephews did not like to be swaddled but my LO absolutely could not sleep without being swaddled so hey, whatever works. There isn't anything wrong with swaddling if you are doing it properly. Just make sure when your baby is not sleeping that they are free to use their arms and hands. And when they are swaddled, make sure they still have room to move their legs.

lol I could never do it as good as the nurses. My half ass attempt though seemed okay and she never had a problem with it.

We swaddled the first 2 days but she kept breaking out of it. Tried unsuccessfully for another week and then gave it. Seemed like she liked to sleep with her arms free.

I have worked in NICU for almost 6 years, and I have yet to encounter a baby that doesn't sleep better swaddled ... We will swaddle our LO.
