I got the flu shot back in October but I'm convinced I'm coming down with the flu!
I got the flu shot last year when I was pregnant because my OB strongly recommended it, but the last flu shot I received before that was 10 years ago, and I ended up getting the worst flu I've ever had 2 weeks later.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I got the flew every year my first few years teaching. Then I started getting the flu shot, and haven't gotten the flu since (6 years!). Knock on wood, since I'm preggo now.

I got the flu shot for the first time this year since I"m pregnant...haven't got the flu yet (knock on wood) but have got a whole slew of other illnesses - strep throat, cold, major chest congestion...Dr said my immune system is way down now that I'm pregnant which makes sense because I'm usually healthy as a horse!!

About half of the nurses I work with got the flu, and we are required to get the vaccine. I was so glad to be on leave when the flu hit so bad.

@char54: Aw sorry to hear, especially because so many medications are off limits! I didn't get sick when I was pregnant but I did get canker sores because I was so tired and my immune system was shot!

At the hospital I work at, we have seen a lot of flu cases where people had the flu shot and still got the flu (and so badly, they had to be admitted to the hospital!). The vaccine is all about what strains they "guess" will be prevalent in a given year, and apparently they were wrong this year! So every year is a crap shoot!

I got the flu and got a flu shot. My Dr said 40% of people who get the shot still get the flu. If you catch it early, Tamiflu helps big time!

I got the preservative free shot and I still got sick....but my flu was a lot shorter than usual.

Both me and DH got flu shots back in October and we both got the flu this year...me a really really mild version, DH was worse but not as bad as I've heard some people have gotten it.

My grandma did! I hear that if you do get the flu, you're more likely to not be as knocked off your ass by it, though

@autumnlove: I got the preservative free one too since I was still breastfeeding so I'm hoping if this is the flu, it's short!
@blackbird: I'm not sure I agree with this theory as I honestly thought I was going to die the last time I got the flu shot and then got the flu. I could barely make it to the bathroom, and I lived in a studio apartment back then!

NO I should get one though. A few weeks ago I got super sick and swore I had the flu and I didn't. While I was at the clinic I meant to get the shot but I was so sick I didn't even remember when I walked out of there. I was kicking myself in the butt for not getting the shot because it was AWFUL! Turns out it was strep throat.

Luckily, not this year! (But I have been a little secluded on maternity leave) I get the shot every year, since I work in an elementary school. In my six years of teaching, I have only gotten the flu once. It was still horrible even without the shot! I was in bed for a week.
