Please say yes. Please say yes. At three months, we still only get 3 hour stretches so I can't imagine it gets worse! I am surely going to regret saying that.

we didn't have a 4-month regression BUT i will note that LO was not the best sleeper from the get-go. and we did have a 12-month regression that lasted about a week and a half.

We had a cluster of 2-3 nights where she was up constantly. Then things went back to normal for about a week, and then it happened again. BUT, ever since then she seems more able to go to sleep on her own -- we can put her down 60-70% drowsy rather than practically asleep, and she'll sometimes wake up in the night, play and talk to herself a bit, and then go back to sleep. Who knows if it will last, but while it does it's great!

My LO was also a crappy sleeper and 3 hours was the best she did. I don't think her sleep got much worse (maybe 2.5 hour stretches and definitely had a hard time after 5AM), but it also didn't get any better, which was kind of depressing when sleep already sucked.

No 4 month regressions here! LO 2 did have a couple weeks of waking up once around 10.5 months before she went back to STTN.

My LO had a regression for HER - she was STTN 10+ hours every night, and started waking up once or twice a night. but i don't know if i can call that a sleep regression, because she only ever wakes up when she's hungry. It feels more like a month long growth spurt. And even at her worst, she's still a pretty good sleeper, we're just spoiled because she was an amazing sleeper before!

LO was STTN at 11 weeks. At four months exactly she woke up in the MOTN for two days in a row. Then back to STTN.

My son was a challenging sleeper and honestly, I didn't know there was a thing as regression at certain months.
So, I can't answer if we skipped it or not, lol.

I was petrified because C STTN early and everyone kept saying at 4 months it would stop. But she kept STTN , save for a few periods where she'd go maybe a week with a MOTN wakeup then go back to normal. Not sure if that's a real regression or not but it was never as bad as I feared!

We didn't suffer a 4 month sleep regression, but we did have one at 7 months.

It was hell. And she was a horrific sleeper to begin with.

DS is a terrible sleeper and waking up hourly was a nightmare. We're in the throws of the 9 month one right now. AHHHHHH

Yeah, sorry, we went through it. I thought we were suffering badly but now I've experienced the 9 month one I can see that it was in fact a breeze.

She was a great sleeper before the 4 month sleep regression. I thought we were going to escape it because it didn't hit until she was 4.5 months old, but it lasted a long time, I want to say for over a month until we finally had to sleep train her.

B was a great sleeper, STTN from 1 month old - 8 months old. Now I think we are hitting the 9 month regression and it's bad. She's been waking up 2-5 times a night for the last 6 weeks. However, she STTN last night so I'm hoping it's coming to an end.

We escaped it. DD slept through the night from about 3 months until the last month or so (she will be 9 months on the 27th).
She still hasn't popped out any teeth, so I'm hoping that teeth can be blamed for the 3-4 wake ups we have been having most nights recently!!

@MrsB2012: ahhh, this is my life! She did a full night last week and I thought it was over but now we are back to multiple wake ups!

Liam actually started STTN at 4.5 months, so we not only escaped it, we somehow did the opposite. And we did not sleep train (until 17 months...).

@Ocean girl: haha she had 2 nights a week or so ago where she sttn, so I think/hope it's slowly getting better haha

She was a great sleeper, had one really bad week right at 4 months and then started STTN 10+ hours again.

@looch: this was the same for my son. He was a crappy sleeper from the beginning, so the whole first year looked the same to me.

we haven't ever experienced any sleep regressions with our 2 LO's... or maybe we did and didn't realize it? they've been good sleepers phew... hope you escape it toooo!

No 4 month regression even though I was terrified!
If you read people's stories on regressions, the "4 month" one seems to be somewhere between 3 and 5 months and a 9 month one between 8 and 10 months etc etc. I think (jmo!) the idea is that sometimes babies go through periods of crap sleep. They've got a lot going on. There is no definitive rule on when that happens. All babies are different. Different things affect them differently and they develop at different rates... If it happens you WILL get through it, but don't think you're doomed!

No regression here. I think sleep training before the 4mth regression would have kicked in spared us. We are almost 8mths now and have had no regressions, yet
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
C's sleep was so so bad from 2.5-3.5 months that it defibity didn't get much worse at 4 months. We did sleep training to fall asleep at 3.5 months and I think that helped keep four months from being awful.
In short- it's possible you are already in the worst of it.
