It seems that most people's kids get bigger with each pregnancy/birth. Was that true for you?
DS1 was 5lb5oz and 17.5 inches
DS2 was 5lb6oz and 19 inches, so longer but not really heavier.
I'll be curious to see if our third is any bigger, but I'm guessing he will also be small.

Yes, but it could also be because he was a boy? I gained the same amount of weight, but LO2 was 1.5 lbs heavier and 2 inches longer.

No, she actually was the same size/smaller than her older sister. LO1 was 8lb 5oz and 21 inches at 40+4. I went 10 days overdue with LO2 and she was the same weight at 8lb 5oz but only 20.25 inches.

@winniebee: I'm also super curious about this - my DDs were:
DD1: 37 wks, 5 lbs 11 oz, 18 inches
DD2: 39 wks, 5 lbs 14 oz, 19 inches
I'm hoping baby #3 is a similar size, but who knows!

Not my experience but my mom's. Her first was 7lb 10oz, but 20 inches long. Second was just over 7 lbs and a few inches shorter. But her third was 9lb 14oz and 18 inches long.

This is what I'm terrified of. My friend just had a nearly 10 lb second baby after having a very average sized first baby. I'm trying to pretend there's no way it could happen to me....ha!

DS #1: 7 lbs. 6oz
DS #2: 7 lbs even. He was predicted to be 8 lbs, but arrived a whole pound smaller.

@PinkElephant: I know right?! We're a two, maybe 3 family, and I'm nervous that I'd have a similarly large 3rd baby. But, my mom says that her 3rd labor was by far the easiest, no tearing despite bad tearing and an episiotomy with her first two labors. She also says that pregnancy was her easiest, she gained the least weight, and recovered very quickly.

My second was smaller 3,480g to 3,840g. But she was almost 20 days younger (38w+4 vs 41w+2).

Nope, although he would have been bigger if I carried to same gestational age, and I also got no fluids during his delivery which also made him a bit smaller.

@winniebee: that's true - I don't know if under six lbs at my hospital will automatically mean NICU time. It didn't where my first two were born.

My second one was smaller, but born about 3 weeks earlier. I think think she would have actually been bigger if she had arrived at the same time.

No, my second was smaller, but maybe because it was girl vs boy? Both born around 39 weeks.

My second was bigger - both girls, one born on her due date, one born the morning after her due date.

Oh I really hope my second is smaller!!!! We will find out in December. You guys are giving me hope though. DD was only 1/2 an ounce away from being 9 lbs. So I reaaaaaally hope the next one is smaller.

Not true for me, DS1 born at 40 weeks was 8lbs 9oz, DS2 born at 39 weeks was 7lbs 5oz. I don't think he would have caught up even with an extra week!

Nope. DS was 6.5 pounds. His baby sister was only 6. Which was A-OK because she proceeded to gain two pounds a month for the first few months

My two, yes, but my first was considered IUGR @ 5lb 12oz. My second was 7lb 15oz so huge difference! I hope my third is in between the other two.
My mom actually had smaller babies. My oldest sister was almost 10 lbs, middle was 8+ lbs and I was just about 7.
I would guess you make small babies but maybe this one will break 5.5!
