We struggle with weight gain with Declan he is exclusively breastfed right now but I worry that wh start my internship in a month I won't be able to meet his supply needs.I only pump about 3 ounces every couple hours when I'm away from him so I worry.

I truly think it did. T was gaining weight really well and thriving and I started to notice his physical development slow down and his weight slow down starting around 4 months. I went back to work at 2 months. My supply suffered a lot from his bottle preference and pumping just not doing the trick. We're FF now at 9 months because is weight is completely dropped off and now have to do EI.
It may or may not have been because of going back to work but the timeline matches up.

I think it contributed to my supply dropping. A lactation consultant told me that many women see a drop in supply between months 4-6, so my drop may have been normal or it may have been because of my return to work. I returned to work when my LO was 3 months and I have seen a pretty steady decline since returning. I am hoping to make it 2 more weeks EBF until he is 6 months and then I am just going to give in to FF, but hopefully still BF morning and night. It is just too stressful to worry about my supply anymore.

It did not affect my supply. I noticed a dip around 6 months but that was right when my period returned. After that, it was steady until about 10 months and I fought to keep going until 12 months.

@stargal: Yes my supply did go down after returned to work when LO was 4mo. Also when he started STTN at 6 mo and not nursing at night my supply went down even more. I always struggled to keep my supply up so this may not be typical for most people.
I only work part time so I would pump 2-3 times/day when I was home with LO to keep up my supply and keep a little freezer stash too.

It impacted my supply but we still managed to EBF until 13 months (solids at 7 months). I had more supply on Monday than Friday and I used the weekends to build up supply again. I also pumped once per night to get as much as I thought I needed. I'm not sure that I'll work so hard for #2. With LO1 we suspected milk sensitivity so I didn't want to go through choosing a formula.

It did. I went back at 7 weeks, right after that tough week 6. I wish I could've done at least 4 months.
I took domperidone & supplemented to get his weight up. We still breastfed until 11 months.
