I just left a hair salon after a first time visit for a cut and colour. I’m happy with the result and would like to go back again. Altogether the cost for the services was $135....I tipped $20, which I realize now is just under 15%. Is that too low? Do you think the stylist will be offended and not want to book me again? I usually try to tip generously so I wasn’t purposely trying to be cheap...it just seemed like a good amount at the time I was paying. Am I worrying for nothing?

@MLE81: I usually do 20%, so I would have given $25 since it's an easier round number. I think $20 is enough that the person won't be offended though. I wouldn't worry!

@MLE81: I always get so flustered when calculating the tip because they are standing right there and I forget how to do math.
Can you text her and ask for her venmo? Just tell her you realized you did the math wrong?

@Chuckles: Yeah, I figured $20 was low. I was thinking maybe next time I’ll tip $30 to make up the difference, but was wondering if she’ll write me off as a bad tipper/cheapo now :).

Just chiming in to say that I think $20 is fine and I’d be shocked if she failed to book you again bc of it. I’d say you’re fine... next time if you feel like it just tip more.
