Yes! He would stand up, drink water, play with a hockey stick, etc. all the time! He didn't walk until ~2 months later though.

Both of mine stood unassisted before walking, but from letting go of a stationary object (like a sofa, or chair). Both girls figured out how to get from crawling/sitting/face-planting to standing AFTER they started taking some steps.
