I actually never put much thought into it back before I had kids. I got pregnant soon after our wedding and then we moved back to our home state, and we figured it didn't make sense to find a job for 4 months before having a baby so I stayed home and continued to stay home after that. Daycare costs are crazy and I wouldn't really bring much home. So no, it wasn't a "plan" we had before having kids, it kind of just worked out this way.

Never in a million years, but it worked out that way and I really love SAH so glad it did work out.

Yes - I always wanted to be able to be a SAHM and hoped that when I was married and having kids that financially we'd be able to swing it. DH was totally on board too.

I always knew I wanted to, but we weren't sure if it would be financially feasible. We're fortunate that we've been able to figure out how to make it work.

I decided before I met DH that I wanted to SAH, at least until any future kids went to kindergarten. He was on board with that idea. We got married and saved my income for the first three years to put a down payment on a home and build up our emergency fund so that we could make it happen.
ETA Growing up I didn't really have any ideas about this one way or another. My mom stayed at home, but I also had friends with moms who worked outside the home. It wasn't until after college that I made up my mind what I wanted to do.

I knew I wanted to. It is definetly harder than I ever imagined but I'm so thankful I get to do it. I just started working from home part-time and that has really made for a great balance.

Yes, but I didn't realize how much I'd want to continue to work and pursue some of my own interests. I ended up staying home, but also running my business from home, the first years of parenting, and have only in the past year, since selling my business, been truly SAH. Even still, I have side projects in the works, and feel fortunate to be home with my girls.

We decided I would be a stay at home mom until our kids are in school. I love being home with them most of the time.

I always wanted to stay home and my DH was on board, but it took a lot longer to get pregnant than expected. So I was much deeper into my career than I thought I would be. I worried at the last minute that I would regret it, but I haven't at all.

Once we decided to have kids I knew I wanted to, but I never expected for it to actually happen because I never thought we'd be able to afford me not working. But we live in an area where daycare costs more than I would take home, and I was in a low-level position at my company, and my husband's salary is just barely enough for us to live on. So it actually worked out fairly well because I didn't have to make a tough choice.

I always wanted to stay home though I went back and forth some. My ideal situation was part-time WAH which I do now.

I always wanted to SAH until my kids were born. DH insisted I go back to work after LO1 so that was the plan when I started my leave. I didn't expect to not like being at home.

I was not sure that I wanted children, but I knew if I did I have them I would want the option to SAH. DH was in support of whatever I wanted to do. I'm not sure I will do it forever but it's working for all of us.

After law school, working for 8+ years, and getting married, things just shifted for me in terms of what made me happy and what I wanted in my life. I'm so happy it worked out so that it's possible for me to SAH bc I really love it

I always knew I *wanted* to be a SAHM, but of course never knew if it would be a reality. Even now that I am, I'm hoping it'll be indefinite, but I think I'll have to go back to work in a few years.

My fantasy was to be a SAHP. I took a stab at it and I hated it. I'm grateful for that time with LO1, but I missed my sense of self. My sense of accomplishment. Not to mention that I work in an industry where to the pay is comfortably into the six figures, so #1) It's almost ridiculous not to work, #2) I missed being accomplished for my talents...I felt like I was just the person behind my daughter. Nothing special.

I never considered staying home. I stayed home for a three-month maternity leave and went back to work. I don't regret that decision at all. I would go crazy if I stayed home all day.
