DH and I have discussed names already, and we're not TTC until next month! I feel like that's pretty common though. We have pretty much decided on a first name for a girl, and have a top few for a boy. For those that are pregnant or have a baby and did this, did you change your mind once you actually had the baby?

We did- but all the names we picked were girl names, and we had a boy!
We had a list of names when he was born, and a top 2, and we ended up not using either name because he just didn't "look" like either name.

We are the same as you-- we've picked out a couple of very top contenders. Don't know if they will change when I get pregnant though. I doubt it, but who knows.

Gosh I've done this since I was about 14, lol. I had all my kids' names picked out, and 10 years later they have all obviously changed. Especially if I've met someone with one of "my" names who rubs me the wrong way. It just ruins the name for me.

Oh yes our names were Hazel and Jude for the longest time....
But those definitely changed when I actually got pregnant! -
We actually never really discussed what our babies names would be until I was pregnant. The night I found out I was pregnant we decided on our boys name, no questions asked, that was it. We never really had a girls name.

I hope we don't look at our baby and change our mind! It took a year for us to agree on the two names that we have.

We had a list before/during TTC, but it has evolved a lot since then. Our boys names are mostly the same though!

Dh and I had decided a name for lo if she were a boy and we said we'd use it for the next since she was a girl. Since then I've chanced my mind..... and we're not even ttc yet. The name has become so popular. Normally it wouldn't bother me, but its the number one name. Popular is one thing, the most popular is another.

Yes! We had a few names in mind but after we conceived, all of our lists changed. I wanted to name a girl Caroline for the longest time, but after we conceived Caroline somehow fell off the list. And we had a great list for Wagon Jr. (he was going to be named either James or Dean!) but we ended up naming him after Wagon Sr.

We had our boy name (Brady Paul) picked out long before we TTC. We are both pretty firm on that so I don't see that changing throughout my pregnancy.
Our girl name is a different story. Before TTC, we were set on Camden Rose (Orioles shot out, anyone?). However, once I got pregnant we added Irie Rose, Annabel Rose, and Elle Harper to our list of possibilities. However, my mom refers to our baby as baby CamBray so it I have a feeling we are going to get some opposition if we go with anything but Camden...

We had discussion about possible names before TTC and after we got married, but we definitely started narrowing the list when we started TTC.

@lawbee11: We didn't change the name after he was born, but we did have two names we were SURE would be the two to choose from and then a month before he was born we were driving on the highway and DH said "I like the name Jacob" and that was it!

We did and every name we said was in the running is not even on the list at only 4 months pregnant lol

I had a name that I loved (Una) and my husband HATED it. I thought he'd come around once I got knocked up, but he continued to hate it. Soooo no Una.
I did tell him if he missed her birth for any reason (he almost had a work trip two weeks before my due date), I was naming her whatever I wanted.

I hope not bc we only have 1 girl name. And it is plastered and monogrammed all over pretty much everything!

Our names evolved quite a bit throughout my pregnancy. And we still won't be making a final decision until baby is here. A big part of that is because we don't even know if we're having a boy or a girl : )

We decided on a name a long time ago, then got pregnant and decided we need a list. After weeks of making a list, we ended up with the original name.

We picked names, one boy and one girl name, years ago. We weren't even engaged. Now that we're pregnant, we refer to the baby by the names we picked (we don't know gender yet so we use both lol).
So no, we haven't changed our minds. But we didn't pick trendy names either. Both are very strong, classic names.
If we wind up with two of a kind, idk what we'll do! Lol, we had a relatively easy time deciding on names but neither of us have really liked any other names! My top contender for a second son is Elliott David. I haven't shared that with DH though, number two is far off!
