Then after we got married, I really wanted a dog. My husband said we could get a dog or have a baby, but we couldn't do both. So I chose a baby because I figure I can "surprise" him with a dog way easier than with a baby. Logic, right?

We adopted 2 cats when we first moved in together, then 3 years later we adopted a dog. Our 4th and final was our miniature pinscher "foster failure". So pretty much we have a zoo and are now just waiting for the baby to get here to add to the mix.

Nope! I wanted a dog but we talked about it and decided we wanted to budget the money and time that would go towards caring for a pet on hopefully a baby. Now that we have that baby I don't know how we'd have enough time or energy to take good care of a dog either!

I got a dog when we were long distance, then when we moved in together, he sort of became our dog, but he is still a mama's boy

Yeah, we got a puppy about a year after getting married. We're both dog people & always talked about getting a pet. Once we rented a house with a yard, we figured it was time.
I'm beyond thrilled we got the puppy before having a baby!! It really helped me learn to let go of some of my rigid, selfish tendencies. I don't know how I would've coped with the lifestyle change of having a child if I hadn't experienced it before with our dog. -
Yup!! I bought hubby a puppy before we officially started dating, and the hubby bought me a puppy for my college graduation. Then we bought another puppy together later on.

We got our puppy about 1.5 years into dating. Actually, we were still living in the college dorms at the time, so our dog got to live the pampered life of "floor pet" for the first 3 months of our relationship.

No, but that is the 1st thing on the list once we move to our next place. Only problem, DH wants a cat and I want a dog!! Maybe one of each, lol.

Bailey our beagle terrier was my 6 months gift from dh. Buddy our yorkie came along a year later when we wanted a playmate for Bailey!
