Holy Shiz.
This morning I opened facebook to see that I was invited to a group for our 10 year high school reunion this year. 10. Years.
I can't even believe this.
Did you attend your 10 year reunion? Was it awkward? I don't know if I should go...

I didn't, but I thought about going just for the Hot Mess factor of a small town.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@blackbird: haha! I wonder if small towns are more messy than cities?! I have been snooping through all the people in the group and am like "I remember you... and you... omg... you.... " etc.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
No, I didn't..I am not even sure we had something, as this was pre-facebook. I did attend my 20th though and it was fantastic.

I went and I am glad I didn't miss it. It was nice to catch up with people that I don't want to see more often than every five years.
In all seriousness, I did enjoy reconnecting with some old friends even if it felt a little forced at times.

@looch: your post reminded me - I am older than I thought - I skipped our 20th, not 15th!

DH's is this year and mine is next year. So far I haven't heard a peep about either. We would probably go.
grapefruit / 4400 posts
Nope-- ours was in a stuffy hotel ballroom for $85/pp, no host bar. Nooooo thanks. Plus, with Facebook, you don't really NEED reunions anymore.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@HabesBabe: I'm not sure where ours will be held. There's a discussion about it right now and I know a lot of people are expressing their desire for something inexpensive. Although, I know a LOT of these people aren't on my facebook, and I'd rather not have them there anyway, but it might be nice to catch up? I'm conflicted.

Sure did, I also was in charge of putting it on (yes I'm that girl.) I grew up in a small town (graduated with 50 people) so most people I'm in touch with anyways, but it was still good to get together with those who I don't see often. We had over 1/2 the class show up which was nice.
eggplant / 11824 posts
I went to mine - it was several years ago. I'm old.
It was ok. I guess I'm glad I went, but on the other hand I'm already FB friends with most of the people I was friends with in high school so it wasn't like I felt like I needed to go. I already knew pretty much all the gossip.
grapefruit / 4400 posts
@.twist.: My husband's class had theirs at the local Dave and Buster's. $25/pp, apps, no host bar, a DJ-- he said he had a lot of fun! If it's open for discussion, I would suggest something like that.
pomegranate / 3244 posts
We didn't really have one. We had a FB group and the consensus was..nah, haha. If we had one I probably wouldn't have gone--I always had it in my head that I would show up having done *something* fabulous with my life--alas, my classmates appear to be far more successful and talented than I'll ever be (we're talking Forbes 30 under 30 and Napa valley wine dynasties, folks).

I'm also old and mine was several years ago. I didn't go. And DH didn't go to his either.
honeydew / 7622 posts
I did not but I was shooting a wedding that day. I likely would not have gone. I have enough friends that I don't have enough time to see as often as I would like.
persimmon / 1404 posts
Nope. I'm friends with anyone from high school that I care about having any kind of interaction with.
pineapple / 12793 posts
Yes. It was stupid. $85pp, cash bar, shitty food, most of my classmates lead depressing lives. Blech.
I skipped my 15th. They planned it for a random weekend on the summer and only 20 of 342 RSVP'd yes.
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
I did. I was barely pregnant with Liam, so I couldn't drink, which made it kind of excruciating. It was expensive and I basically only talked with friends I'm still close with, so I kind of regret going. It would have been more fun if just our group went out to dinner somewhere.
pomelo / 5129 posts
I did not go. They were charging and it was a cash bar (so what was I paying $40 for???). And it was the week my father had brain surgery, so I figured that was a good excuse!
I looked at the photos on facebook after the fact, and there was seriously only one person I would have wanted to have caught up with that I don't see regularly anyway.

I did. It wasn't awkward. It was fun! My 20 year is this June!!
grapefruit / 4235 posts
I skipped mine b/c it was like $150/couple for 2 NIGHTS of events, on a random night in the summer. No thanks...I think about 15/186 showed up.
grapefruit / 4120 posts
Yes, I did, and it was amazing! It was two parts. My friends and I got together in between to gossip and whatnot, and then we went to the evening party at a bar. I had a great time and I can't wait for my 20th (which is next year, eek). It's super fun to see what people are up to and how they have changed (or NOT).
nectarine / 2031 posts
No I didnt and they didnt have a 15th one.....MAYBE I will go to my 20th...highly doubtful
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
Ermmm.. this year is my 20th. *runs to go find her walker*
I did go to my 10th. Open bar = not awkward until the next morning. I'm going to just leave it at that.
In all honesty, it was really fun.. surprisingly, there was no attitude, no cliqueiness, everyone seemed to have grown up and it was one big group happy to reconnect. High school was NOT like that.
This was also before Facebook though, so most of us had actually not seen each other in 10 years.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@dagret: 2 nights! heeeeeell no.
@JoJoGirl: I do think I would need an open bar.... haha
but overall I hope if I do decide to go it's like this.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@.twist.: Oh it made a big difference, trust me. I probably should've been cut off, though.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@JoJoGirl: I'm hoping there is and hoping there isn't. I can just hear the stories now. lol. and trying to think of who to tell about it, I realise I didn't have many friends in HS. hah!
pomelo / 5509 posts
No! It was held at a bar/restaurant and was more than $50 per person for drinks and apps. I didn't like high school that much and I figured I keep in touch with the people I actually care about from that time period so...no.
pomelo / 5469 posts
No. I already keep in touch with the few people from high school that I care about, simple as that.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@JoJoGirl: haha how do you come back from that? Oh haaaaai... I don't know WHAT happened, let's be friends again! bahaha... *sigh*
pineapple / 12802 posts
@HabesBabe: Hopefully they do choose something like that. While I may go, I'm not sure I'm ready to help plan it! haha
pomelo / 5220 posts
I didn't go to mine. I don't live in my state any more and it was on DH's birthday... plus I don't really care about what most of them are up to. From what I gather on FB most people are all still friends and still live in our hometown. Maybe I will go to 20th?
