I just finalized Harper's nursery decal today, and unfortunately it won't make it in before DH leaves to go back to work offshore next week. We are putting up the crib this weekend, and I know I'll be ITCHING to get this on the wall when it comes in....Did you do one, and if so, was it hard to get it up/centered/looking good? Should I give it a try or wait for DH to get home again and do it?

I used a similar one for LO's room (tree/leaves/birds) and did most of it myself. It's doable to do but it takes patience. It's not hard, just time consuming.

I painted 3 huge custom canvases to go about C's crib, but I worked in retail and did the HUGE vinyls that went in the window displays for 4 years. It's really not that hard. Just make sure you have it straight and go slow and it'll be fine.

It looks big and complex! If it comes in lots of pieces I would give it a go.. but! It's probably a better idea to wait until your DH can help! My sister sent us a not so complicated decal, but it was nice having DH to help out with it!

we didn't do a decal, but opted more for wall art. I made a 3D flower doily art. (will blog about it soon)

Really cute! We did a school of fish with many little fish. My mom did it for me since I was on bedrest 
But, she put little pins in the wall and measured so it was easier/even.

We put up a tree and it was a pain in the butt! I liked the outcome but rubbing the individual pieces onto the wall was annoying!

We put up a the decal, and I wouldn't have wanted to tackle it myself (although I was about 37 weeks pregnant when we put it up) it was just easier to have a second set of eyes to measure, make sure it went up straight, and to do the ladder work. Mine also came in about 1 million pieces, so it was tedious.

I did one, not in a nursery but just in my house. It's not that hard as long as you have very smooth clean walls!

Love your decal. We put up one in our LO's nursery, and it was a total pain. It took my dad 2 hours to put it up and he's used to putting decals on race cars. He still talks about how tedious and time consuming it was. To be fair, our walls aren't the smoothest so every little bump made getting the curly letters very hard to adhere to the wall. I will say that it is gorgeous and was worth the effort!

We have a giant giraffe (it came in three pieces)... it took us awhile to put it up (me and the hubs) and we screwed up in a couple of places

@MsMini: what an adorable room!!! OMG I love it. Yellow is my fave. I was too scared to put it in a boy's room though... I do have small pops of yellow, but it's scarce.

very cute! i have used them and i think it takes more patience than anything. they definitely stick best to walls that are 'flat' without any texturing - so i think you should be fine to do it yourself!

Mine is embarrassingly simlple so I did it myself. I'd wait for she in your case because it might get frustrating. The trees seem to be big jobs....and you don't want a half a**ed thing staying on your wall for years. I will tell you: they peel off but they can wrinkle when they do and they are less sticky too...so first times a charm; anything after that might look messy. Here's mine (again it was super simple and boring):

I also put up a decal and actually enjoyed it, although I love all kinds of artsy projects.
Couple tips: If you're putting up a tree, make sure you establish a plumb line by hanging/taping a piece of string with a weight at the end. Otherwise your tree is gonna be crooked. Also, smooth from the middle out with a flimsy/bendy plastic card.

Love all the decals. I painted right on the wall because our walls are textured, so I wasn't sure a decal would actually stay.

Thanks everyone for sharing experiences and advice. It seems the general consensus is to only tackle it alone if I am a) crafty, b) patient, and c) precise. I am 0 out of 3, so I'll probably just wait for DH to get back:( It's going to kill me! Maybe I'll just put her name up to hold me over!

My LO also has a tree in her room. I'm crafty, but I'm not patient or precise. I'm not a perfectionist at all. I think that with a tree it's ok because branches and leaves don't have to be in any exact place. I put it up.... I think the only problem would be that I had to stand on a chair and DH wasn't happy with that (I don't think he knows about it) because he didn't like me doing that while pregnant.
