This is totally random - I'm planning on going the day after the shower to do registry completion since I'll be 36 weeks.
My mom is all worried that people will want to buy us gifts when the baby is born and by then the registry will be gone. I'm not sure how to resolve this... we have all of our 'must-haves' on the registry so would prefer not to wait, but she has a point.
What did you guys do?

Yeah we did. We got a lot of clothes and gift cards post-birth.

Would you have to set your due date as a few weeks early to do that? I thought it was like a wedding registry-- you get your completion discount after the event-- but i haven't actually registered yet.
I was thinking of creating a fake PBK registry with an early due date so we can get our crib and dresser ahead of time using the discount, but not publicizing it.

Yep! Everyone that brought gifts after she was born, gave clothes

I did, and then I added a bunch of "fun things" like toys, books, clothes, etc for people to choose from if they shopped the registry after the birth. No one did, but it was good to have there just in case I guess.

Yep, we did that a few weeks before LO was born. Our friends and family mostly just sent us gift cards and/or clothes after he was born.

@Foodnerd81: We got our registry completion coupon in the mail a few weeks ago so I think you can do it before the event if you want.

I finished our registry the weekend before LO arrived. I had just about everything ready to go by Sunday. I went into labor on Monday night and had him on Tuesday morning.

Yes, we did it a few weeks before due date. I didn't buy EVERYTHING off the registries though, even with the completion discount. Mainly because they were not essentials and I didn't want to spend more. We've gradually gotten straggler gifts here and there - some from the items I left on the registry and others that aren't from registry. Also got some gift cards. So I wouldn't worry about it.

I did it after the shower too. Gifts after the baby came were mostly clothes, which I didn't register for but needed. And a personalized picture frame.
