My parents didn't do time-outs on me. They did spank me when I was really bad though. But they were only a handful of times and I distinctly remember each and every incident. The one time my mom sent me to time-out (when I was around 7 or 8), I remember being so angry and resentful and thinking up all of these negative thoughts about her. Time-outs didn't suit me at all. They worked great on my brother though.

I also got spanked very occasionally (handful of times ever), AND I got time outs in my room AND had to do extra chores AND had to write 2 page long letters of apology to my mom (who would grade it, slide it under my door, and make me correct it before I could come out). And lots of "re-educating" as my mom would call it, which basically meant a very long lecture and demonstration of how to do something the correct way if we'd done it wrong (loading the dishwasher, or doing our laundry, or dusting, or whatever).
Ahhh...my parents were creative with the punishments.

Yes, it was their main form of punishment. I remember one in particular. My parents taught my Sunday School class (3 yo), and I thought I could take advantage of that. They put me in the corner, and I was so embarrassed to be in trouble in front of all of my friends!

Ugh, yes. We got sent to the corner as time-out, and they continued to do that up until middle school, which was mortifying! We also had things taken away a lot, like no sugar for a week (we have greatttt relationships with food as a result *eyeroll*) no tv for a day, stuff like that.

Yes, this was our main form of punishment. I remember when we were older (10 or so) my mom would set a timer for an hour and we had to play outside and not come inside, if we came in it would start over, that was her sanity time.

Time out wasn't a thing while I was a kid. Instead, we had spankings. I kind of wish I grew up in a time where there was no corporal punishment. I always wonder whether it would have had an impact on me.

They would send me to my room, which was NOT fun like kids rooms today. If I was really bad, a spanking was in order.

I would get sent to my room...where i would then turn on my tv and talk on my super cool clear see thru phone...remember those??! lol My parents didn't do time outs very well!

My parents' twist on timeouts was to make us spend them on our knees with our nose to the wall. They'd start us on the carpet and upgrade it to the tile is we kept smarting off. What they didn't know was that the tile actually hurt less, so my sibs and I always tried to work in one last jab to end up on the tile. Working with what little power we had, ha

Nope. I was in the spanking camp as well. I don't think my parents were ever consistent enough with discipline for anything to work

We were sent to our room, which was completely ineffective. We had books and toys in our rooms, and didn't mind spending time there. Being sent to our room as punishment? No big deal!
It took our parents awhile to figure out that being sent to our rooms was completely ineffective. Then, we had to sit on the steps.
Oh GOD, the steps....

Nope. Every once in a while I'd be sent to my room. But my older sister would immediately come and comfort me
