I've had several while going through IVF. My DH has had an ultrasound too.

Lots when I was a teen! The doctor was looking for the source of my pain!

Yep, I've met the Dildo cam
It wasn't particularly pleasant, but its pretty neat to get a tour of your insides.

Well yes... But they were looking more at my liver/spleen/bladder kind of stuff. I was having GI issues we couldn't figure out.

Yes once. To figure out why I wasn't menstruating. Turned out to be just stress.

Once on my leg to check for a clot (wasn't there) and once before getting pregnant with DS cause I wasn't ovulating. They found nothing.

@Mrs.Someone: ha. I had this too, to find out the cause of some pain I was having. They told me it wouldn't hurt...but it sure did. The tech acted all surprised when I told her it really hurt!

Yep. I have/had recurring cysts on my ovaries so I've had many over the years. I actually had a "dildo cam" appointment scheduled to check on a cyst and I ended up getting pregnant and the tech scared the crap out of me because she asked "who told you you were pregnant?"

Once, to check for a cyst that was discovered during a cat scan.

Yes, to check on lumps in breast. I've also had what feels like many now for RE appointments.
@sunshineandsushi: very cute avatar picture!!!

Yes. My doctor ordered one because I was having sharp abdominal pains and she thought I had gallstones. Turns out it was gas pockets in my intestines from the foot-long chili cheese dog I ate a couple of days before...oops!

I had one on my heart when I was in 1st grade. I only really remember the cold jelly. And one of those fun trans vag ones a few years before pregnancy.

@lawbee11: this made me lol
I has one to check for gallstones and possible cysts because of abdominal pain. They never found out the source of the pain

@Mrs.Someone: LoL at "dildo cam"
I've had more abdominal/pelvic ultrasounds than I can count but never to check for pregnancy. I could do without ever getting to know an ultrasound wand until we go through IVF but sadly, I know I will have to have more ultrasounds before that for a variety of reasons

Yup for IUIs. Did I ever have one outside of my RE's office? I don't think so. I did complain of leg pain, associated with my BC and I thought it was a possible blood clot or something. I can't remember if they used an ultrasound machine or maybe it was something else.

Yes. It was part of my preconception visit.
ETA: I've yet to get pregnant.

I had a breast ultrasound last summer. My mom had breast cancer young and my paternal grandmother also did, so because of the family risk my dr also had me get a baseline mammogram and MRI too before I got pregnant. The breast ultrasound hurt so much more than the mammogram for some reason!

Once a long time ago when my dr sent me to the ER for suspected appendicitis. It wasn't appendicitis so they were looking for other sources of the pain - turned out to be a big ovarian cyst. And of course a lot for IVF.

Lots, both internal and external. Both for my gallbladder and to check for cysts.

The only one I can remember before pregnancy was to check the position of the IUD I had prior to getting pregnant
