It's how I met DH! He was the first (and only!) online date I ever went on!

No but many of my single friends have tried it, and at least 3 of my married friends met their spouses through online dating sites!

I did. I met some crazies! I did meet one sane guy and we had a good run.

Once, during a 6 month period when D and I were split up. I went on one date with a guy who looked sort of like Kevin Smith in his photo but more like a werewolf in person. And he wore a floor-length trench coat over shorts on our date.
Ironically, my #1 match on the site I used, with 96% compatibility, is one of my old friends from college! We had a few drunken flings, but is not someone I could ever date!

SO and I have been together since we were 17, so I never experienced online dating. I have friends who have though and I'm all for it!

No, but a couple in our pre-marital meetings at church met on Match!

Nope, but I don't think I would be opposed. It's hard to meet like-minded people (romantic or platonic, for that matter) once you're out of school!

Sure! When I was living in DC, I didn't know very many 20-30 somethings who weren't trying online dating!
I never had any bad or crazy experiences, mostly ok dates with nice men who just weren't a good fit.
Funnily enough, after about 3 months of online dating, I finally let a friend of mine set me up with a friend of hers... who ended up being the one!

Yes -met some great guys (and a few oddballs); just not the one for me.

@lovehoneybee: I am picturing this date in my head & am trying very hard not to laugh....did you at least have a semi-nice time? lol

Yes....it was hard to put myself out there and often embarrassing for me. Some of the guys were quite "interesting!" But, it's how I met my husband, so it was definitely well worth it.

@Andrea: I met my DH at 18 too!
I would totally try online dating if I wasn't attached though. I think it has great potential to be fun or at the very least, interesting!

Nope. DH and I started dating in high school. My sisters have done it for awhile and haven't had much luck. They've met a lot of creepy guys.

@Mrs. Sunshine: Yeah, he was pretty funny! I was still in love with D, though, and my heart wasn't into moving on (and rightly so
)
And I totally laugh when thinking back on it now!

I tried it for a month. Didn't meet anyone I liked and it made me feel nervous so I stopped. My sister met her sweet handsome husband on Match and so have a slew of my friends. Dating is so hard that I'm glad it's out there. For some reason I met everyone I ever seriously dated at bars in NYC. One was my husband!!!

Nope, been with DH since age 19. But, I definitely would have tried it! Lots of my friends have, and a few have married someone they met online.

I'm currently online dating. My bosses and friends always get a good laugh at my bad date stories. I should write a book about them but I swear people would accuse me of lying they are so crazy. I actually am in the process of setting up a date for this weekend. Fingers crossed!

Dh and I met at age 20 so I didn't have the opportunity to even think about online dating but I think I would have been intrigued by the thought if I were still single!

When I was 24 (11+ years ago) I joined Match just to email my DH. We have been together crazy in love ever since, lived and traveled around the world together and now are expecting our first child. So it definitely worked for me!!!
As much as he is my soul mate, we never would have met without Match, and I'm so grateful we found each other. At our wedding we both thanked the folks who were the indirect reasons we both even checked it out (his former roommate and my friend whose awesome brother had met his fiancé on Match and inspired me to do the free search in which I found my husband!).

Yep, I tried it a lot actually. When I found myself divorced at 26 with most of my friends settled down, it seemed like a good option. I tried Match for a while (back when it was free). I met several nice guys, but none of them clicked. After a short relationship with someone I met offline, I decided to try eHarmony. I met my ex-boyfriend there who I dated for 4 years.
After that relationship ended due to his commitment issues, I decided to give it another try. The last time around, I met my husband on eHarmony. Interestingly, we had met in person 10 years prior but didn't really notice each other because we weren't looking at the time. Obviously, the second time we met things worked out!

I didn't, but I know lots of people who are married now after meeting online.

@travelingnanny: So, funnily enough, one of the reasons I decided to try online dating was to gather some crazy stories and write a blog about it, and maybe someday a book. Well, I went and fell in love with the first guy I met online soooo...there went my blog!! Hahaha. It was worth it, though.

I met DH when I was 27 and def got pressure from friends to try online dating but I was like no, no & no. It just wasn't my thing!
I have one friend that went on a couple dates from it but all were eh, with some creeps too. On the other hand, I also have a friend who met her DH online & they have a 2 year old by now!
