I don't remember being grounded a lot... but then again, I didn't really leave the house all that much, ha. Sad but true. So there wasn't really all that much to ground me from.
Did you get grounded a lot as a kid?

never. My parents weren't really into punishment. If I got in trouble we talked it through, then it was over. There was no taking things away or grounding or hard labor involved lol.

Nope! Same as @Mae: I don't ever remember being grounded. But I was definitely a good kid...aka geek! My friends and I hardly ever stepped out of line.

rarely and only when i was younger. my parents would refuse to drive me to friend's houses, but there really was no way for them to keep me inside once i was older.... i was a handful & hard to punish- i did have the door removed from my bedroom, all my clothes not on hangers taken away and other forms of alternative punishment

I did a few times (once for a month, and they didn't let me off even a day early!). My parents somehow found out about every little thing I did, so I learned fairly quickly that it was best to just be honest with them, considering they were pretty relaxed as far as parents go

@mrs. bird: I had the door removed from my bedroom, too! For slamming it a few too many times. I've never heard of it happening to anyone else, ha!

Never; my parents were immigrants and didn't know what that was

Yes, although I think it was more common for them to take away phone and tv privileges...

Never. My parents never knew about "Grounding" as a punishment.

Nope. I was never grounded. I don't think my parents really liked that punishment for whatever reason. Sometimes I'd be forced to stay in my room for an hour, but that's as close to "grounding" as it would get.

Once. Because I tried stealing something from the mall. Which ended up in a two year ban from the mall. I was horrified and have never stole anything since. Damn peer pressure.

@mrsjyw: Oh i agree. I think it was more of a western thing. Asians were more about the beat down (kidding).

Never. Even though I got in serious trouble, my dad never grounded me. I will probably not ground my children neither.

Yup. Grades mostly and trying to hide stuff from my dad. I would get a C on my midterm and be grounded until report cards and be ungrounded when I brought it up to a B. Then slack off and repeat the process over and over.

A few time, but honestly I was a little shit so grounding didn't really "work" for me as I found a way around it.

@Freckles: yup and making us hold our hands up. Did u ever have to do tjat?....torture
honeydew / 7444 posts
@mrsjyw: Oh my gosh, i was JUST thinking of that. One time my sister and i had to raise our hands in the CAR! So embarrassing!!

@Freckles: @mrsjyw: LOL I was going to say the same thing. I didn't get grounded because I would get hit with a chopstick or made to kneel in the corner with my arms out.

Yes. This will sound biased, but I never actually did anything wrong. My stepmom wasn't very nice to me.

YES! In HS I was grounded every time I made a zero on an assignment (I was a lazy kid). I went from having crappy grades and six weeks of being grounded to having excellent grades and no weeks of being grounded!
I plan to do it with my kid too someday!

Never. My parents weren't really into punishment in general, but as an adult, my mom came clean that she particularly doesn't like grounding because being stuck at home with a miserable kid is really just punishing herself... haha.
But I was a pretty good kid. My sister sometimes got opportunities to go out taken away if she didn't finish homework. My parents were into consequences that fit the action. Like, if I forgot to turn off lights or electronics they'd charge me $0.25 to pay the cost. Which added up when my allowance was only $2.00/week!
