My mom ended up getting us a personalized ornament. I'm pretty sure she got it from one of those pop up mall kiosks. It's a baby in red mitten and it says LO's first Christmas and the year

You might hold off on getting yourselves one. We received 3 (4?) our first Christmas with LO.

We have like 7.... a lot of people gifted us "baby's first christmas ornaments" I did her whole nursery in elephants so the one I picked out was an elephant wrapped in pink yarn from target and it had a little 2013 tab on it. my husband bought me one from hallmark with a little owl family. other ones we got were lenox, metal photo ones (i've seen similar in michael's) You can also look at Disney, Pier one, the kiosks in malls that will personalize them or any of the craft stores.

Last year I didn't actually buy it till January! Oops! I ordered it from personalizationmall and bought a pink rocking horse with her birth stats.

@yoursilverlining: @Chillybear: this is exactly why I waited to buy one, but we didn't receive any.

I bought ours last year from the Etsy shop Susabellas. We did receive several as gifts, but I wanted her to have one from us in case/in addition.

@yoursilverlining: Oh, I didn't know people give ornaments for the first Christmas. I assumed it was kinda personal and I wouldn't know what they would like. I am looking at ornaments with a family of 4 + 2 dogs. I guess I could wait, but I sorta want to have the ornament before Christmas... not after. I am thinking of getting a family one (with our dogs) and an ornament for each baby. Maybe I'll get the family one and see if the babies get an individual ornament for themselves.

@bluestriped bee: @yoursilverlining: we also received several as gifts, some that I like more than others. But if you want to pick out a special one yourself, do it! You can have a few.
I have already received one for our second baby, due next week, but I won't take it out of the box until she is born since she could technically wait until after Christmas, in which case the ornament will be a lie.

We got one from Etsy for M on her first Christmas. I love it! We also have about 5 more "baby's first Christmas" ornaments from family and friends. Ha. https://www.etsy.com/transaction/106570698

@bluestriped bee: I know I'll have to call dibs on getting the first ornament for my LO next year. My mom prides herself on getting them for my bro and I since her sister didn't for her kids. She thinks she own the thoughtfulness. Ha! Not for my kid.
Now, will you get two, so that each child can one day hang *their* ornament and perhaps take it with them?

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I think I'll get a twins one that I'll probably keep for myself and then the one for each of them and they can take with them. Just thinking of them taking it with them when they are older...

I got one for D's first Christmas from personalizationmall.com. It has his exact age on Christmas Day his first Christmas (11 months, 8 days). It's not fancy, but we're not fancy people. Hopefully they'll still have it next year for Babygirl's first Christmas!

I haven't. With dd we got several as xmas gifts but I have a feeling with this lo we won't have any! I guess that's ok if we get it late though since we are traveling and not doing a Christmas tree.

We also were gifted with ornaments for both children during their first Christmas. My husband joked that at least I wouldn't have to bother picking one out! But in reality, I'm waiting until I'm sure we're done then having all of them made at the same time. My desire is to have each one be a laser cut wooden snowflake with their full names, birth dates, height, weight, etc. that way they're all kinda matching. I'm hoping the actual snowflake and possibly wood design would vary some so that there's that feeling of uniqueness too

She got like three from people. We bought one too. Once she moves out and we give her all her ornaments, we will keep one.

One of our Christmas traditions is each family member picking out an ornament when we get our tree. We picked one out for our 3 month old. It's a little ceramic snowman.

I haven't bought either one of them one yet and it's LO1's 3rd Christmas....lol

Only LO 1 has one. I should look for a 2013 and 2015 ornament!

We were gifted several and then I bought our own as well. I bought DS from Hallmark and DDs from Etsy.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: hm never thought of that. But we get them an ornament each year so they will have plenty to choose from!
That's odd that so many other people got your kids first ornaments! MIL offered to make DD1's and we both loved that. We asked her to make one for DD2 as well.
@loveisstrange: that's adorable!!!
