Did you join a sorority when you were in college?
Not to live in the glory days, but I did, and I miss it! Or maybe I just miss having friends. Making friends when you're older is hard!
Anywho, just wondering. Some of us might be sisters, and not even know it!

I did! I swore I wouldn't, but I found a sorority that fit my needs and joined. I still talk to a few of my sisters and one of them was in my wedding, but I don't miss my sorority as much as I miss my college girlfriends. Ironically enough, out of the 5 of us, 3 of us were in different sororities.

Yes! I think @MamaMoose: and I were in the same sorority... which always weirds me out because we also work in the same profession (which isn't a common one, I don't think), lived in the same city (before I moved), and struggled with pre-term labor.

No. There was (is) family drama related to sororities, so I decided to stay out of it.

No, not a social sorority anyway. My student professional organization (spo) is Greek lettered, Gamma Iota Sigma. We did a ton of stuff together and there were a bunch of officers so we were really close.
By the time the only social sorority I wanted to join was able to have an intake line on campus I was graduating.
@TheSwissWifeStyle: do you have a grad chapter you could join? My mom is still active in her sorority and she's in her 60s.

Nope. Our sororities just seemed to be all about partying and I wasn't really interested in that.

Yes, but I dropped out sophomore year. I went to a really small school that had four sororities. No big drama or anything, but I didn't really fit great with my pledge class and had lots of friends in a different sorority and some not in a sorority at all. I had fun while I was in it, but couldn't justify all the time and expense I was spending in it.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: someone tried to start a European Alum Chapter or whatever, but it didn't really take off. I actually found out that I have a "sister" a few towns over. We chatted online a bit, but never met up. Just seems awkward now, lol!

I went to a large state school, and there was a large Greek life. I joined Alpha Chi Omega and stayed in all four years.

Yes. I loved it at first but towards the end there was sooo much drammmmma (what happens when you get involved in leadership in any organization, IMO), and i was ready to be done.
I do still keep in touch with tons of my sorority sisters though.
I work in a woman-dominated field and I think it was good training for the workplace. The cattiness of the office didn't throw me off at all, but if I didn't have experience with the group dynamics of women, I think it would have.

I rushed DG but never bid. I have friends who were in it, DH was in a frat. None of the were super Greek though.

Yup. I'm an Alpha Phi. I joined my sophomore year and it was one of the best decisions I made in college.

I'm not. Greek life was surprisingly huge at my school--it's a small liberal arts school, so I had no idea how big greek life was until I was immersed into it but a TON of people are Greek--I would say like half of the student body, or at least it seemed that way. They have a very big presence on campus. I considered rushing a few times, but decided against it--I'm not super-social, didn't like that it was such a big financial commitment, and I already had a great solid group of college friends so I didn't need to join it to have the social outlet. My sister who went to the same college as me, however, is an extrovert and social butterfly and did go Greek, but there was a ton of drama in her sorority and she actually ended up dropping her letters! Reaffirmed that I made the right choice not to.

@Meowkers: Another Alpha Phi here!
I went to a large state school with a huge Greek system and knew I wanted to rush before I ever set foot on campus! It was fun for the four years but once I graduated, I pretty much closed the book on that chapter (pardon the pun) of my life. I still keep in touch with some of the girls but don't participate in any alumni activities or anything like that.

I didn't even know about Sororities in time to partake in the rushing. Super crazy bubble growing up...
I had some really good friends in AXO - I feel like that's where I would have ended up if I knew in advance

Hell yes! Greek life was awesome at my school. Rush starts next week. I miss it sometimes! I'm an advisor for my house. I'm a chi omega

I did -- Theta! I loved the friends I made in it and we're still super close...but most of my best college friends weren't Greek. I don't regret it at all though.

Nope. I transferred from the college that had a more active Greek life anyway.
