I was surprised when I went five days early with my first LO, since I was expecting to go past my due date since she was my first. I have a feeling I will go right up to 40 weeks with this one, but wouldn't be mad if I were wrong

I was induced at 41 weeks and had been dilated to 2.5-3 cm for weeks. I thought I would go into labor early...oh well!

I was thinking I would go into labor around 41 weeks. Much to my surprise, my water broke at 38+5. Since it was my first, I was pretty shocked! And didn't even have a bag packed lol.

Hmm. I was worried that I'd go really early, because ALL of my McK nephews were at least a month early (one was 10 weeks early).
When I realized that wasn't going to happen I was then convinced that I would go very late, because first baby. But I was desperately hoping that I'd go a little bit early because I was so effing miserable. I ended up giving birth 2 days before my due date.

I was convinced I would deliver at 36 weeks, as 35 is average for twins. Lo and behold, I was induced at 38 weeks 3 days.

just a bit earlier. I figured I would go late since first baby. LO came the day before her due date (went into labor 2 days before due date). at that stage I knew it could happen - not a huge surprise - but wasn't super antsy yet.

Earlier. I thought since it was my first and I had no signs of labor I would go to around 41 weeks. Instead I went into labor 39+4. I wasn't ready! DH had to install the carseat and I had to pack my hospital bag still. Oops!

I wasn't dilated at all at my 39 week appointment so I was surprised when I lost my mucus plug and started going into labor two days later. Unfortunately he was never positioned correctly though so two and a half days later after not progressing I ended up with a c-section. So both faster and slower than what I expected I guess

Earlier! I went into labor at 38w...I was expecting to at least go to my EDD since she was my first.

Early, I was very surprised! My water broke at 37+5. I'm scared that with number two I am going to be late.

For some reason I thought I would deliver on my due date... Both times actually, haha... So yes I was surprised to deliver at 38 and 39 weeks.

Way earlier! I thought I would at least make it to my due date, but I ended up delivering at 35 +6

I went into labor and delivered LO on my due date. I was expecting to go into labor later, as the doctors were predicting I would be late. Glad they were wrong.

DS was just a few days early. However, I was SHOCKED when DD was almost 3 weeks early with absolutely no signs the previous week at my ob appoint.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
Right when I expected to. I had a feeling all along that I would not deliver before my due date and I went into labor the day before.

Definitely later! I had a few complications from 34-38 weeks (baby flipped breech, pitting oedema, dropping platelets and spilling protein) and I was pretty sure that a c-section was on the cards but fortunately baby was turned by ECV which remedied my other problems! My waters broke and I went into labour at 41w1d

I thought I'd go post date bc my mom went 2 weeks post date with me and a week with my bro and sister. So I was pretty caught off guard when my water broke at 39w3d! I had appts the following week to meet a pediatrician and get a wax. Ha.

I went into labour 2 days before my EDD--I totally expected to go over with my first and had already looked into the induction process in preparation!

I got confused! I thought I'd go early, then at my appointment the day my waters broke, my midwife said that with my consistently decreasing blood pressure levels meant that our regional hospital would now only consider inducing me at 41+6. All of a sudden I was convinced that I was going to be two weeks late! Nope, baby came the following day, three days early!

I had a feeling I would go a little earlier, even though I knew that it would be more likely for me to go past my due date. DS1 came early at 38w 4d. With DS2 I assumed I would make it before my due date, and he came at 39w 1d.

I knew I was gonna go past my due date with #1, and had her at 40+3, then went way earlier with #2 than I thought I would, 36+4

I think I'm going to be late! I'm almost 37 weeks so we will see what happens soon!
watermelon / 14206 posts
With DS earlier because he came at 32 weeks.
With S she came later than expected because DS came so early.
This time I'll be surprised if I go all the way up until my scheduled date.

Earlier - she came two weeks early! I had just packed a hospital bag the day before.

No! I was so disappointed when I went 5 days late. (I didn't feel much better when the doctor said I wouldn't go any earlier this time.

Earlier. I was so sure that I'd go at least a week over due to my O date. She was born at 40w3d

ummm sadly, no. I mean... I guess my 10 day post due date induction went pretty well and I labored quickly after medical intervention....

I thought I would go to 40 weeks or beyond. I was induced and that happened earlier than I expected.
persimmon / 1085 posts
I was shocked when my water broke at 38w4d because I was scheduled for my c-sec at 39 weeks and it would be dangerous to have a vag birth, so we ended up rushing to the hospital for a very fast C-section. I was in complete denial for a few minutes when my water broke and woke me up at 5am. I kept thinking I just peed the bed, because I just wasn't expecting him to come early! I was shocked.

Way later...and I never went into labour spontaneously. Induced at 42 weeks.

I was surprised when my water broke and I went two weeks early. I kept hearing how neither usually happens with your first.

Charlie was born on his due date so I guess he was right on time!
Olive was 5 weeks early, so definitely way earlier than I expected!

Earlier! I told DH at dinner we were having sex every night cause I wasn't having any labor signs and I was over it! Two hours later my water broke!

I'm feeling like I'm going to go late with this one, but who knows. Either way, I get to meet them soon
pomegranate / 3393 posts
Yes! I was convinced I'd go to 42 weeks and beyond, and was planning to fight my OB about getting induced… but my water broke at 39 weeks and LO was born at a 39 +2!
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
I delivered on my due date...so right on time? Lol
Except I had so much false labor I kept expecting to go earlier.
