I loved when the carnival came to town! We'd ride rides, play games and best of all, eat carnival food! But when I went to a carnival as an adult, I was terrified! The rides seemed so old, and they felt like they could break at any moment. I love rollercoasters but I don't think I'd ever ride a carnival ride again!

I agree, carnival rides are scary! We'd go to the fair, and we have things like the Strawberry Festival which I love. They have all the games and rides too, and pig races and all sorts of animal things. We took LO this year

@artbee: there was a huge annual fair where i grew up, and that felt much safer. it was around the entire summer. i went as an adult pretty recently and rode all the rides. but traveling carnivals feel much scarier!

@Mrs. Bee: There's an amusement park in GA that I went to for a concert. I was in college and wanted to see Aaron Carter. Yes, I just admitted that. So my sister and I decided to go up early to ride the rides... but once we saw them we were too scared to get on them! I think they just sat there for so long and were never updated, pretty scary!

We go to the fair when it's in town, but we generally don't go on any of the rides, haha. We eat lots of food and play some of the games, but the rides are too scary, haha. Plus we have an amusement park close by if we really want to go on rides.

Haha I'm the same...loved it as a kid, but now would not ride the rides... I think I would for my kids....i think carnivals are kid staples.

I loved carnival rides as a kid but never understood why my parents weren't crazy about me riding them...until I realized that they seem so unsafe! The best part about carnivals though, for me, was the food! Corn dogs, Italian sausages, Slush Puppies, fresh cut french fries, fried dough...aaggghhhhhh!

@Mrs. Bee: I agree that carnival rides are scary! They put those rides together in 20 minutes...how is that safe?!?! I love roller coasters & rides at big theme parks!

We went to county and the state fair every year. My grandpa was on the fair board of both so we got free passes to everything growing up. We were really lucky, we got to see so many concerts for free due to him being on the fair board, and got to stay in a hotel for the whole 2 weeks of the fair!
Looking back I don't know how grandma handled all of us for that long! haha we had to exhaust her!

We went to the fair all the time growing up because.....my uncle owned a traveling fair and my aunts and uncles owned rides, games, and food! Yep my family were carnies : ). I miss it - rides and French fries and candy apples!

So true, we checked out our local carnival last year and the rides looked so old and unsafe.
My high school in Hawaii did a carnival every year to raise money. It was sooooo fun and an island tradition to go. I really miss it.

I loved carnivals!!!! I actually never went with friends though. Always went with my parents and/or sisters. hehe. Great times..
