I didn't! I bugged for one, but my parents never gave in! A lot of my friends did, though.
One of my friends even had her own phone number...and her brother had one, too!

Nope! I hated talking on the phone (and still do!) so I never even asked for one.

Nope! Although some of my friends did and I was jealous, haha. There were no private conversations on the phone for me since our phone was in the kitchen!

@illumina: I hate talking on the phone now, too...haha. It's my parents fault, lol

I had one! We had the extra line (and phone number) for the dial-up internet, haha, and I finally talked my parents into getting me an actual phone. I think I got it for Christmas one year! LOL.

No, so I was super glad when we got a cordless phone so I could at least talk to my friend/boyfriend in private.

Yep! I still remember how excited I was when my Aunt and Uncle gave me a pink and purple phone for Christmas. They had cleared it my parents first.

Nope, it would have made it more difficult for my mom to spy on me

Nope. I could talk on the phone wherever the cord would reach. We didn't get a cordless until I went to college. I would take the phone and stretch the cord around the kitchen wall, into the hallway and into the basement entryway. I would shut the basement door behind me and pray my brother didn't walk in.

I had my own phone and line. It was a birthday present. I had to pay for it after the first month though.

I had one of those clear phones with crazy colored wires and my own phone line. I paid for it though.

I asked for the ability to have a phone in my room as a birthday present when I was in middle school. Then, early in high school we needed a separate phone line for the internet, so my parents had that line routed into my room to give it to me and keep me off their home/business line.
I was big on asking for a new privalege as a gift - not the item itself (which I would save my money for). That strategy seemed to work for me as I ended up with a TV, phone with private line, and computer in my room eventually!

I had a Slinky phone. I don't think I used it once. Then one day I stepped on it and broke it. I felt super guilty, but I'm not sure why as, again, I never used it... Hmm.

Yep, my sister and I had our own line and we each had a phone to that line in our rooms. We kept clogging up the main line and my dad hated it. We actually had 3 lines so we could have our dial up (woot!) and fax not occupy a real phone line either.

That was my Christmas present one year, a phone jack in my room (my sisters and I had a "teen" line too.) this is where the majority of our fights happened

Yup! It was a Christmas present one year in middle school. I didn't have a separate line, but I didn't use it enough to warrant having one. I had one of the super awesome clear phones like this:

Not until I was 16. Before that I would use our formal dining room, which was quite private.

@MediaNaranja: This is the one that I wanted and I was so bummed I didn't get it.
