With Charlie's it was negative. The hospital was so busy that they couldn't admit me into a room, so I suffered for hours upon hours until I was 8cm dilated. The staff was very rude, my labor nurse was a bitch, and they seemed to have their hearts set on a c-section early on.
With Olive I had a very positive birth experience. Got my epidural quickly, had an awesome doctor that delivered me, and really awesome nurses when Olive had to stay an extra 5 days.

I had great nurses, got a room right away and I LOVE my OB. Plus I didn't have any tearing. I wanted a natural birth so the only downer was the epidural that took FOREVER and the monitoring that followed gave me & DH a few big scares about DDs heartbeat. Other than that, totally positive experience

DS was negative. My birth plan was completely ignored. I was admitted when I should've been sent home, was immediately given pit, & ended in an "emergency" cesarean.
P was a positive experience. Unmedicated vbac that was a planned homebirth but transferred. Despite my anti-vbac hospital & medical community I still got my vaginal delivery (literally right outside the OR) & my nurse is going to midwifery school so she was more than supportive of my choice in homebirth & I didn't have to deal with being treated ugly just because I chose an out of hospital birth. Other than transferring, I couldn't have asked for a better birth!

Negative. It was going so well until I got a crappy nurse who told me not to push, talked me into an unwanted epi at 9.5cm and then a c section.

Negative. Besides the fact that I ended up with a c-section when I had planned for a natural birth in a birthing center, next time I am not giving birth in the friggin' hospital with the most births in all of New York State located in the "baby boom capital" of NYC.

I had a very positive labor. In fast, great staff, and my dr stayed overtime just to deliver my baby.

The home birth part was great, the transfer to the hospital and delivery/stay was like a tour through the nine circles of hell.

Really positive. I had a planned c-section for a breech baby and was very nervous and disappointed with how miserable all the staff seemed who were prepping us but the doctors/nurses doing the surgery were awesome and the moment they placed her on my chest after cutting the cord and wrapping her up was amazing. I had such a good c-section experience and the nurses on the ward were fab too. Pain was a bitch but what can you do? Morphine was my friend.

It was neutral. There were good parts and there were bad parts. Needing forceps assistance sucked but the nurse we had was wonderful.

Overall positive. But I was in labor for 3 days (nobody's fault), and that was pretty negative. Everything that happened at the hospital (once I finally was admitted after 2.5 days of labor) was all very positive. I have mostly very positive memories about my birth experience. Some people would call that crazy though, so I think all of the positive hormones and endorphins really altered how I remember it all...

I'd say overall positive because I got to have my non-epi birth in the hospital, but there were some serious bumps along the road getting there. I'm pretty sure there is some sort of hormone that made me fuzz over the bad parts a little in my memory.

Definitely positive! Went into labor on my own the day before my scheduled induction, got an epidural when I was about 4 centimeters which was bliss, progressed quickly without needing any interventions, and got to be delivered by my primary OB. Recovery was a breeze and the nurses were wonderful. I tried to bribe one of them to come home with me!!

It was positive, despite the negatives--failed epidurals, back labor, hemorrhage. The staff was incredible, though. Very supportive, every single one of them. Both OBs I saw--the admitting and the one who delivered both came by to see us the next day, as did all of our nurses. I know in the grand birth experience that's a small thing, but was just one more thing that made us feel not like another number in the system. We felt cared for, and that really made all the difference for me.

I feel like I had a neutral experience, despite aiming for an unmedicated delivery i had a 27 hour labour with pitocin due to failing to progress, an epidural that had to be adjusted after four hours (it didn't work on my left side), a ventouse delivery and an episiotomy BUT I also had amazing care from my MW and her team and my recovery has been a breeze.
I also think the fact that our first month at home was pretty damn awful also left me feeling like delivery was the easy bit!

Super! Fantastic nurses, amazing ob, great hospital. I nearly had to have an emergency c, and I feel so lucky they did so much to avoid it. Excellent postpartum care also.

Positive both times. The hospital staff was excellent both times. We had to pay out of pocket though the first time so that part sucked.

Mine was totally positive!! Loved our hospital (MGH) amazing nurses, especially the one I pushed with for 5 hours, and amazing doctors & residents (teaching hospital) who were all really supportive and friendly!

My initial thought is "negative". But the fact that LO was delivered safely and we're both fine kinda balances it out, so I chose neutral.

I had a very positive birth experience! I loved the hospital I was at and had an absolutely wonderful midwife. I got my epidural within 20 minutes of asking for it and it worked perfectly, I was able to labour down for two hours after reaching 10 cm, the birth was simple and uncomplicated (and completely pain free!) and DD was perfectly healthy! We also got more than an hour of skin to skin time before they took her aside to be measured, weighed, and cleaned up, and all after care was superb. I cannot think of one thing I would have liked to have had happen differently.

Positive both times! I'm very blessed to have had routine vaginal births both times, one with epi and one without. The second time I was hemorrhaging a bit afterwards, but with careful monitoring and some meds (post-baby), it was fine. Recoveries were super easy too... Felt pretty back to normal within a week for both!

I said neutral because I wasn't supposed to be in labor and it was a very weird experience. I also didn't have my LO in my room because he was in the NICU so I cried every night of my stay. I also had a nurse comment about "healthy babies" and how it must be hard for me to be around healthy babies. DH got furious and said our baby is healthy, he was just born early. I loved the NICU staff though.

i had a really positive experience. i loved my OB, i loved my labor nurse and i had my DH and mom in the room with me. they were a superstar team.

I'd say positive. A million things happened that I never expected but everyone was wonderful and supportive.
My OB wasn't the doctor that delivered DS and I knew that was probably going to happen, but the OB that came in for that shift was like an angel sent from heaven. Maybe it was luck/fate but she was just who I needed to be there.

Positive! I had great nurses (like so great that I considered sending cookies and a thank you note - why didn't I do that??) and I really liked the midwife on call who delivered LO, even though I had only met her once before. I also had a doula, which I think definitely improved my experience.

Very positive! My nurses were phenomenal, my birth went exactly like i hoped, and it was a quick labor without pain meds (9.5 hours for a first birth). I almost didn't want to leave the hospital!

So positive. It could not have been better. All of the nurses I dealt with were amazing. My doctor was awesome and everyone was so nice! I learned later the nurses go to customer service training!

Negative.. I ended up with a c-section which was the last thing I wanted. but the doctor and nurses were mostly great. There was no lactation consultant though and that really annoyed me

I suppose it was mostly positive. My contractions hurt pretty badly and I didn't have time for an epidural but I had gone in not wanting one so that worked out. I'm glad now that I didn't have one. Also, most of my nurses and the on call doctor were amazing. Plus, LO was as healthy as she could be.
The first nurse when I got there was pretty bad but the shift changed in the middle of me pushing so she left. Also, my recovery was pretty bad but that wasn't anyone's fault. So overall it was positive.
