Yes out hospital only has private rooms. You deliver in the same room you stay in, it's really nice!

That was the only option thank goodness! I probably would pay for a private room.

Glad that all the rooms at my hospital are private. They provided a bed for DH, and he was by my side the whole time.

The hospital I plan on delivering at only has private rooms. I really hope the hospital doesn't get full and I get kicked to another hospital.

Private both times. I could NOT imagine sharing with all that's going on in those first hours post birth. Even with M. I really needed privacy with all we were going through.

Yes. It was all they had at my hospital. I didn't even see one other new mom during my entire hospital stay. Everyone has lots of privacy.

I did. If I remember correctly, all of the rooms were private except for one or two. It was nice, especially after having a csection. Plus, I'm sure nobody else wanted to deal with the many visitors I had.

Yes. It had 2 beds in there, one for DH. I think it would have cost the same if I had to share a room. We're just lucky they weren't very busy that day.

I had to share for the first night and then a private room became available the second two nights. Thank goodness because I didn't even want a roommate in college!

Yup, as I talked about in a couple other threads, not having a private room is my biggest concern right now. These are the things that crop up that make me wish we were still in Dallas! We don't live in NYC, we live in Hoboken currently, but it's the same at the two hospitals we have a choice to go to here with our current OB/GYN. We *should* be able to get a private room, but it depends on how busy it is that day. YUCK

One of those hospitals (hoboken university medical) is already crossed off our list because we had to go there for our ultra sound and every single employee we encountered seem completely and totally incompetant except for our ultrasound tech. She was great (in Dallas, I would say she's average/normal), but she was nice and had manners, which is more than I can say for all the people we encountered in check in/intake/front desk.

So that leaves us with Palisades medical center, which we're planning on visiting soon. If we don't like it there, I'm considering changing Ob/Gyns and going to Valley hospital all the way in Ridgewood.

For those of you not in NJ, Ridgewood (bergen county) is kind of like Westchester county, NY, or the stamford/greenwhich of CT (maybe less well-to-do than greenwhich).

But then part of me feels like I'm crazy for considering a 1-2 hour drive, depending on traffic, just for a private room and nice people?

But then other times, I think....for my first, I'll do whatever to get nice people when I'm doing this for the first time?

You can see I'm kind of fixated on thsi right now.

Private both times and DH was permitted to stay the night the entire time we were there.
