No our purchase was very straightforward and we worked with a buyer's representative that specialized in first time home buyers. I don't remember investigating needing a real estate lawyer.. maybe we should have? But we didn't!

We haven't 'hired' one, but we have a lawyer that is/will be helping us. I'm just super lucky to have access to one all the time, if I didn't we'd pay one to help us though.

We did. We were first timers, and honestly I don't think I knew that it was optional.

I don't know how else we would have done it. I wonder if you can legally change ownership of property here (Canada) without one. I'm glad we did have one though. I think the paperwork would have killed me.
