Nope. I had retainers but never had a need for braces. Well, my bottom teeth might have but when I smile you don't see them so it's not a huge deal. My brother, on the other hand, was a serious metal mouth - sleep guards, the whole works.

I had them twice because my orthodontist was terrible! I can't remember when, but they were about 3 years apart. I need to get them again. Was Invisalign painful?

Not only did I have braces, but I had 2 sets for a total of 10 years. My teeth were so bad that I had to have them for my baby and adult teeth. My orthodontist rarely let me pick my colors so I didn't even get to have any fun with them. Luckily they were off by my senior high school prom.

I did - my teeth were VERY crooked. I went through a period, in grade 5-6, where I lost my last few teeth at the same time-ish, and my new teeth were growing in on top of each other! Ugly! My teeth were SO crooked that I had to get a retainer first to straighten them out a little before braces would even fit on my teeth!

I wore braces from grade 7-9, retainer every night until university, and then I stopped. My teeth has shifted a little, but not enough for me to do anything about it.

got braces when i was in 7th grade. had it on for a year or so. i didn't think it was cool at all. lol. and i didn't get cool colored rubber bands - it was either gray or white, can't remember.

Yep, for 1.5 years and then got them back on for 6 months senior yr in hs... and my ortho sucked, so as an adult at 28 I want to get invisalign to fix the problems that braces didn't cure!

Had them from grade 7-10

I had them from the last month of 6th grade to the first month in 9th, so about two years. My teeth weren't horrible, just slightly crooked with some odd placement and an overbite. I stopped wearing my retainers in college when my wisdom teeth came in. Unfortunately, one of them came in crooked and shifted my bottom teeth. It's very slight, and you can't see it when I smile, so I haven't done anything about it.

Braces were the least of my mouth’s concerns. I had palate expanders, retainers, full sets of braces (upper/lower), multiple oral surgeries to remove adult teeth (too many chompers for my mouth space), root canals from all the teeth movement and additional contraptions from elementary school to high school. My teeth are still crooked today.

My mouth seriously sent at least 1 of my orthodontist’s children to college. Teeth are one of those huge expenses I think a lot of people don’t think about when thinking about kids.

I got braces at the end of my 5th grade year. My appt was the morning of the award ceremony, and my mom went to retrieve my awards. Come to find out later that day, my mom totally embarrassed me by dancing on stage each time she retrieved my awards. Oh man...

I didn't have them growing up but I had braces 5 years ago. My teeth weren't very crooked but I just had one snaggle tooth that needed to be fixed.

I had braces in 5th-6th grade and again in 11th grade...and my teeth still aren't perfectly straight, but it's close so I don't mind. My husband also had braces (only once as a kid) and his teeth are BEAUTIFUL...so perfectly straight. I think it is really important to find a good orthodontist.

I didn't but only because my parents couldn't afford them. Now at 29 my dentist is trying to convince me to get them. I have an underbite and my bottom teeth are crooked. The only way to fix the underbite is to have surgery to push my jaw back. Which they would only do after I've had braces to straighten my teeth out. I'm considering it but it might not be for another year.

I had them - twice! Once in 5th grade to get rid of the spaces between my front 4 teeth on the top. The 2nd time was to move my bottom jaw back so it was behind my top jaw.
