I did! He was born during the Olympics, and I have a very vague recollection of occasionally looking up when I was between pushes and seeing the Water Polo competitions!
Did you have the TV on the delivery room? Do you remember what was on, and did you watch at all?

Haha, after DD was born, the doctor commented that he had never delivered a baby during The Simpsons before! I had the tv on both times, but remembered to turn it off before I started pushing with DS.

When the doctor came in to check me I was watching my favorite soap, so I wasn't really paying much attention to her. Then all of a sudden I hear, "You're 10 centimeters, time to push!" And I was like, "But my soap is on and there's still a half hour left!" They turned the TV off

Sure did! I started with Ellen and finished with Glee!!!!! (It was the disco Glee episode and I crowned during Disco Inferno ,which I found amusing. Oh, and in early labour with Ellen I loved dancing around with her. )

No, the TV in the L&D room was acting up and was really loud, even when we turned the volume all the day down. I had told my husband he could turn it on to give him something to do. He turned it off and just played on his phone. We weren't in the labor room long before I started pushing, though.

I was induced so the tv was on all day, I just remember being super hungry and all the food commercials were just killing me.

@FutureMrsMcK: exactly! It made me laugh. I had been afraid of the ring of fire all this time too. And then, get this: I did not feel a ring of fire. (med free) I think compared to the back labour the ring of fire is not so bad.

@cvbee: Med free with back labor, youch. You're a stronger woman than me...I had back labor and was BEGGING for the epidural by the time I hit 5cm. But it wore off twice, the second time an hour and a half into pushing...compared to the back pain, I don't remember feeling a ring of fire at all!

@FutureMrsMcK: not strong, just too fast in labour...and a bit shy...for the first couple hours when the nurse asked how I was I'd say fine....and I'd wait til between contractions to go out and talk to her. No one (myself included) thought I would progress so fast, so by the time I was so obviously in over my head in pain, it was too late for an epidural.

I forgot about the tv until I reached 10 cm and the midwife suggested we just wait for an hour or two to give the baby time to move down on her own. It just happened to be right when Masterchef was starting so it was perfect! Watched the episode then turned the tv off again. I read my book and/or slept the rest of the time.
