Nope. My parents never cared about bed making. And I also don't make my bed as an adult. It's just going to get messed up again!

I wish I had been required to make my bed every day as a kid, because then I would probably still do so now.

Not really. I was supposed to, but it was never really enforced that much. We never make our bed unless we are changing the sheets or having people coming over. But our nanny usually makes the bed for us while the baby is sleeping! It's not part of her job so it must really drive her nuts that we don't bother to do this.

My mom didn't make me do it, but I was so personally strict about keeping my room clean and tidy, I did make it every day.

I still do to this day, even if it means I make it up before I get into it at night!

No, I didn't. I remember cleaning my room as a child causing me physical pain. lol I love a clean house as an adult, but it took me a long time to get there. I make my bed everyday now and will teach my children to do the same. I just feel more relaxed when everything's in order.

Yes. It makes going to bed feel so much better. I leave the house before my husband and he never makes it and it's my biggest pet peeve. So sometimes I make it only a couple hours before going back to bed

Only if we were expecting company. My husband and I leave our bed unmade to this day! We do usually make it right before bed so that the sheets are smooth and tucked in well.

Studies have shown it's actually healthier (fewer dust mites, less hospitable to bed bugs) to leave your bed unmade. Food for thought!

Yes. Not as much on school days, but definitely on weekends and summers.

We were taught how to make hospital corners as soon as we were big enough to lift the corner of the mattress.

I'm just thankful we didn't have to iron the sheets (my mom grew up with starched sheets)

I don't make my bed as much now (I'm usually up before DH), but I'm thankful I at least learned how to do it properly. Our guest room looks nicer when I make the bed in there versus when DH does. He's tall and rarely slept with a top sheet, so he doesn't really understand what's supposed to be tucked in.

@MaryM: I know a woman a few years older than me who actually does iron her sheets.... and LIKES it! So crazy.

Yes, with "nurses" corners and sheets pulled tight. My mom was a big stickler about having your bed made. I'm lazy now and just pull the sheets and comforter up, it's not as neat as she would like it Unmade beds bother me, thanks to training from my wonderful mother!
