DD is 13 months old and we're down to one morning nursing session a day. I stopped pumping at 12 months. We're NTNP, but my periods are all over the place since AF came back at 9 months PP. Just curious what to expect/what other people have experienced.

I got pregnant with my second when my first was 11.5 months and still breastfeeding around the clock. No issues at all.
I am currently 8 weeks with my third and things look good so far. My second is still BF a few times a day. My cycles were crazy irregular too.

I had to wean down to once a day, but then I was able to get pregnant while still nursing once a day. Good luck!

Sort of. I took vitex to conceive while nursing. It took a few months and then I miscarried at 8 weeks. I didn't get pregant again until I weaned a few months later.

I didn't wean and had a 12 month old that breastfed very frequently. I had one period, used opks to track ovulation, got a positive, did the deed, and got pregnant that try. I breastfed all the way through that pregnancy and tandem fed when the baby was born.

I think I did to conceive C. I got pregnant with her exactly two weeks after L weaned. We tried for four well timed cycles.
However.... as you know, I accidentally got pregnant with A when C was four months old and nursing around the clock.

Nope! I got pregnant when I was breastfeeding my 10 month old, so my first two are 19 months apart. I actually breastfeed my oldest my entire second pregnancy, until DD2 was born.
I got pregnant with my third when I was still breastfeeding my second (and actively using birth control, to boot!), who was 14 months. I breastfed for more than half of my third pregnancy. My second and third are 22 months apart.

No, I was still nursing, but not very frequently. It really hurt to nurse pregnant, and luckily she quit cold turkey before I was 20 weeks.

I didn't get my period back at all until C dropped down to one session a day. I got pregnant the next month and she weaned completely that month. But I don't believe I was ovulating until she went down to the one session.

I didn't get my period back until I got LO down to two sessions per day (basically at 1 year). I was able to get pregnant twice while she was still nursing once a day, but I lost both. Not sure if nursing had anything to do with that (the midwife didn't think so) but I recently weaned just in case.

AF came back like clockwork at just shy of 5 months. I am currently 8weeks pregnant and still nursing a huge 11 month old 3 to 4 times a day. I've supplemented about 4 bottles a week sense 9 months when I got him down to 1 nurse while with the babysitter 3 days a week. I don't think that made a difference. My body was ready to make more babies...

Here's hoping baby #2 sticks! I was breastfeeding and pumping, but my supply dropped right away, so that has lessened.

@mfa_lady: I was nursing probably 4-5 times a day initially. after my miscarriage, we got down to 2 but it still wasn't working. She weaned shortly after turning 2, and then I got preggo. Good luck!

I didn't vote, but I had to wean to get my period back. Not pregnant yet, but yes, weaning was necessary for us to even get here!

@Happygal: Oh my gosh, SO HAPPY TO HEAR! As for a TTC timeline, not exactly. We've been NTNP for a while now, but my cycles are crazy. If I'm not pregnant by the time she's 18 months old, I'll likely get a little more serious about tracking things. We're ready, but not in a rush either.

For #1, I weaned down to feeding 3 times a day and got pregnant that cycle. I breastfed for just over 3 months, but stopped when she was 1.
For #2, I did the same, then weaned down to 2 times, then 1 time, then cut off completely. We're still trying, not sure if that affected things or not.

I had 4 chemical pregnancies while nursing DS2. The 3rd was when we were nursing 2 times a day. The 4th was when we were nursing once a day or ever other day. I haven't gotten pregnant again since we've weaned (this is our first cycle fully weaned). My OB seems to think nursing wasn't the issue, just very bad lucky. I do have another factor that could be contributing, but not sure yet (low AMH).

No, but DS1 was already 26 months old and only comfort nursing once or twice a day. Still, it took me two years to conceive DS1, so I was surprised that it happened before weaning!

No, my then 12m old DS was still nursing when I got pregnant with DD and he nursed for the first couple of weeks of the pregnancy. It was very tiring for me and it started to hurt but he weaned at 13.5m. I'll avoid it with potential #3 because I really believe that the lack of recuperation time for my body caused some of my shortened cervix issues with #2.
