I love carrying and cuddling DD. She's very attached to me, hence we started the transition a week ago, where DH would do the bedtime routine. There was a lot of crying the first few days. She'll still cry when I tell her goodnight and leave, but she would open her arms to DH, which is just so cute!
There are still many times of the day where she wants to be held, or if I'm lying next to her on bed while she have her milk she likes to kick her legs around, or lay them on me, sometimes gently sometimes not too gentle. She's still too young to know what baby in tummy means.

I still tend to carry Xander around a lot when he wants to be picked up (he's 19 months and I'm 30 weeks pregnant), but definitely sometimes I just can't. When we go for walks, he'll sometimes want me to carry him home and I just tell him "No, Mama can't carry you now - do you want to keep walking or sit in the stroller?" (I always bring the stroller just in case) And at home, if he wants to be carried, I'll often say "Okay, but it has to be while Mama's sitting down."

I didn't limit...my body was use to holding my 40 pound 4 year old and my 25 pound toddler before I got pregnant so my Ob/Gyn wasn't worried about it.

I didn't limit lifting, carrying, holding, or even letting my toddler sleep on my chest, at all while pregnant. If your body is used to lifting your toddler, it's fine to continue to do so, unless you have certain complications and your OB has told you otherwise.

I haven't limited lifting him. He's 2.5 and I'm 30w pregnant. I do try to make sure he doesn't roughhouse with me / kick me when we play but that's about it.

I am 20 weeks pregnant and my toddler is 17 months. I haven't limited anything. There's just no getting around lifting him in and out of the crib, high chair, bathtub, etc. And he loves to be held.

LO is 12 months so there's LOTS of carrying and lifting. I'm 26 weeks pregnant.

I haven't limited carrying DD much (she's 19 months, I'm 37 weeks) but I have adjusted how I carry her, how I let her sit on me, etc...I think it's pretty natural because we don't fit together the same any more! I am avoiding certain outings now (the zoo!) b/c it's too hard for me to push a stroller and wrangle her up and down hills. But I'll totally carry her around the mall while pushing a stroller...it's funny seeing the stunned looks people give you! Since you're used to carrying a toddler there shouldn't be any problems as long as you listen to your body and don't overdo it.

Liam is 2.5 and I am 20 weeks pregnant. I haven't limited it much, but I do get tired more quickly, so I tell him I can't carry him for long periods of time. He is usually whiny about it, but I try to distract him with something and he gets over it quickly. He is very attached to me at bedtime, though, and I don't know if I have the strength to not put him the bed if I am home. I'm hoping my husband can take the baby for that 20 minute time period, but I know that's easier said than done.

DD1 is 2.5 and veeeeeeery attached to me so I carried her a lot throughout the pregnancy. I think up until the week I gave birth I continued to carry her though towards the end it would only be for 10-15 minutes max. It didn't really bother me and I didn't cramp, but maybe because I never really stopped so it was gradual as my belly grew. Once I took her out for a walk and she refused to walk back so I had to carry her for 10 blocks - that's almost 60lbs combined of toddler and pregnancy weight!!!

I'm 25 wks and LO is 18-months. I still carry him, but for short distances. If I'm feeling winded I have DH carry him or if I know I'll be walking a lot with him I bring the stroller.

I'm 33 weeks and have a large 3 year old. I will still hold her but I'm pretty much over carrying her at this point. I will if I have to for a short distance, but otherwise it's just too much. I'd say listen to your body, you will know when it's too much.

I didn't.. I just listened to my body and didn't strain myself. DD was 17 months during my last month of pregnancy so still wanted to be carried a lot. The doc said to limit carrying 20+ lbs but laughed while saying that since she knew it was pretty much impossible with a young toddler
DD was relatively careful with my belly but she did give me a few not-so-gentle bumps along the way. It was all ok., though

I didn't limit it at all, but for me it really wasn't an option because despite weighing almost 30 pounds my toddler isn't walking yet! It didn't cause any problems for me with the pregnancy.

(23 weeks, and LO is 19 months ~ 25 pounds) My OB said I didn't need to limit it, but I listen to my body. Some days I can carry her more than others and some days (mostly at the end of the day) I just start feeling uncomfortable, so I tell her no. I'm also trying to get her to walk more during the day instead of me holding her...that's way easier said than done.

DS was 26 months when DD was born last week and he weighs almost 35lbs. I was still carrying him all the time, right up until the end. It has been harder to carry him since DD was born though because I get tired more quickly and he feels like he weighs a ton!

I am only 12 weeks pregnant but have been carrying 14m LO around a ton, especially since she wasn't walking until a couple of weeks ago. I really don't see any way I will avoid carrying her this pregnancy, especially up and down our stairs and into/out of the crib.

I never limited carrying my son. But towards the very end I was too tired to.

I don't limit carrying my 2 year old, 30 pounds (I'm almost 33 weeks pregnant). I do tell him to be careful when he's rough housing.

I didn't limit carrying N. I still wore him a lot. My body was used to carrying him. Plus while I was pregnant he was around 20-22 pounds so no biggie.

I started to limit around 6 months pregnant. My son was already 2.5 and quite heavy though (maybe 35lbs?). I would have BH contractions every time I picked him up, so I tried not to do it too much.

So far I've been mostly fine carrying my ~30lbs, 18 month old toddler (I'm 26 weeks). I just listen to my body. If it hurts I'll try to limit carrying as much as possible. And I've been totally amazed about how much he does understand about being careful with mommy's tummy - he even pats it and gives the baby/belly kisses.

I am 11.5 weeks pregnant and have a 28# 22 month old. I definitely feel easily physically exhausted when she wants to be held, especially when we're out and about. I had really stopped bringing the stroller bc she always wants to walk next to me and not stay in it, but just this past weekend, the stroller made a comeback because I was feeling physically wiped out from carrying her. We had went shopping at an outdoor mall to hit a few stores and she surprised me by not wanting to walk most of that time, and I ended up carrying her. By the time we got to the car, I was exhausted and winded and had to strap her in the carseat and just sit in the front and rest a few minutes. After that, I went home and got the stroller loaded in the car for the rest of our day. At one point, she was pretty pissed to be in the stroller and was trying to get out and screaming her head off, and I just calmly told her, "You have to stay in the stroller, Mommy cannot carry you." It actually made it easy to ignore her tantrum because I knew that I really didn't have a choice, I had to listen to my body for LO2.

I have been having all sorts of back issues this pregnancy. My son is 29 months and 30 lbs and at the very beginning of my pregnancy I decided I would no longer carry him up the steps to our apartment - he needed to perfect this skill without me, and I try not to lift him much unless I have to (in and out of crib, car seat, etc). But we snuggle a TON on the couch, rocker, in bed in the mornings, etc so he isn't having any lack of closeness.

I tried to use a stroller as much as possible but I still carried my toddler a lot! She was about 23-24 lbs when LO 2 was born.
