If you did, did they do a deep clean? How empty was your house when they came? How much did it cost if you're comfortable sharing?

We did the last two times we moved. The places were completely empty each time and they deep cleaned. Eta: we paid about $100 for a 1 bedroom apartment and €125ish for a 1700 sq. ft. apt.

@winter_wonder: We did a move-out clean before our renters moved in. We paid $300 for a 4 bedroom/ 2.5 bath split-level house. They did everything (including inside kitchen cabinets) except wash carpets, which we did ourselves. We are in the Chicagoland area for CoL reference.

I have in Europe, it's standard that if it isn't white glove inspection perfect, you will not get your deposit.
In the US, the requirement is broom clean, which is a joke. I would rather spend the money and have my new place cleaned.

We had it in our contract the sellers had to have the whole house cleaned by someone (not themselves).

I have once, but I have also just had my home "deep cleaned" in several different places I've lived and paid between $150 and $300 for a deep cleaning / "move out clean"

Yes, we did at our last apartment rental. I think we paid in the $300 range for a 2 bedroom apartment. Previously, I would just clean it myself.
The house we purchased we ended up cleaning ourselves, mostly because we had a bunch of work done before moving our furniture in. It was necessary to clean up after painting, electrical, and floor refinishing!

@winter_wonder: We moved a few days ago. We had them come the day after the movers took our stuff, so the house was completely empty. They cleaned the fridge, oven, inside all the cabinets and closets, swept and mopped everything, including the patio and the garage (well, they didn't mop the patio and the garage). We were in a 3-story townhouse (3 BR, around 1900 sf) in a major metro area and we paid $185, which I thought was a great deal.

We don't have kids yet so we were able to clean ourselves. We cleaned everything thoroughly. If we hadn't been able to do it ourselves I would have definitely hired someone.

@winter_wonder: we moved out all our stuff then had our regular cleaners come and do a deep clean--2 people for 2 hours for $99. This was for a 1200 sq ft condo.

I did it after we were moved out. Our landlord left a cleaning checklist (which included cleaning the oven?!). I left the house in a better condition than when we arrived, but didn't have the cleaners move the fridge or stove or clean inside the oven. It was a big house around 3000 SF so I want to say it was 250?

Thanks for the info ladies! Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I'll do some calling around in my area to find local prices.

When we moved out of our 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment and into our new construction home in January, we hired a company to clean the apartment. The place was completely empty and we paid $140 before tip to have the place deep cleaned and it was worth every penny. At our final walk-through, the apartment manager said it was one of the cleanest move outs she's ever seen and she's been working at the complex for 5 years. We received 100% of our deposit back too!
