My dog sleeps on the bed and I wonder if we will kick her off bed when I get pregnant. I'm a softie and I love watching her sleep, so we probably won't.

We don't let them sleep in the bed now so we won't have too.

We never allowed our dog on the bed, and we probably wont. He's going to be 90-100 lbs full grown, and I don't think our queen bed could fit him up there with us!

Our dogs live with my inlaws right now, for the time being, but they slept with us before. We won't get them back until after LO is born and we move, so they'll probably sleep with us again. I don't plan on LO sleeping in the bed with us regularly. Her crib is right by the bed anyways. And, if they were here now, while I'm pregnant, I'd totally let them sleep with us. My cats do, now, and I have no issues with it.
We want to get a Californian King bed when we move, just for this purpose, lol

Nope, they always sneak up while were sleeping. If LO was in bed with us they never tried to jump in though.

Nope. DH is the one who got kicked out (Whoops)
Plenty of nights it is me, the dog, and baby in bed.
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
I haven't kicked him off yet! I like my furry bed buddy :). Maybe once LO gets here... but we don't plan on cosleeping.

we have two pugs who have slept with us from almost day 1. they did so throughout my pregnancy and continue to do so now that our baby is here (we don't co-sleep with our baby). we're pathetic softies when it comes to the pugs sleeping with us.

I was so uncomfortable sleeping towards the end of my pregnancy, so they had to go. Once I had Liam, I never wanted them on the bed again, so they've remained off. I have traveled with Liam alone a couple of times and my husband has let the dogs on the bed, which is annoying because then they get in the habit of jumping on and we have to train them all over again. We have a queen sized bed, so there's really no room for them anyway.
grapefruit / 4311 posts
Definitely haven't since finding out preggers, and no plans to later either. We do hope to train them to stay off the couch though before baby arrives.
pomegranate / 3452 posts
Sure did! Even though the dog is small, with all my pillows there's no room for him anymore
watermelon / 14467 posts
There's barely enough room in our full-size bed for us, let alone our 55-lb dog. She gets up in the mornings, but that will stop once I'm bigger. I think we're going to upgrade to a queen though.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
No. If we kicked them off, the older one would probably pee on the floor. When she passes, we will probably train the other one to sleep on the couch in our room.

Our big baby (bulldog) only sleeps with us when he's invited - Ie, lazy Saturday mornings or when DH is away. He looooveesss coming up and will probably get the same VIP treatment once LO is here
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
I kicked my dog out when DH and I moved in together. DH is allergic, so he's OK with the dog in the apartment but not in the bed. The dog never loved sleeping in the bed with my anyway though, so it was an easy transition. He loves to sleep in the bed when we go out and forget to close the bedroom door though!

@char54: Awwww... I have a bulldog and she's a big baby, too! She used to sleep on our bed - even throughout pregnancy and the beginning of LO's life, but we recently got a new king sized bed which is too tall for her to jump up onto. That ended up being kind of a blessing because we knew she needed to go. She just sheds so much and I was tired of having to wash the duvet cover constantly. Now it's just me and DH, which I'm happy with. But, occasionally I will let her come up and snuggle before I go to sleep, like while I'm reading a book or watching TV. Bulldogs are the best.

@meredithNYC: aren't they the best?? I love ours so much- he has the funniest personality. I hear you about the shedding/drooling...our duvet cover is white so we put a sheet over top when we let him up. When he sees us get that sheet out he gets so excited , lol

THE best! I now don't feel like I can have any other type of dog in the future because I love the breed soooo much. But I feel so guilty having a purebred that I don't know that I should get another one. I feel like getting a rescue is the right thing. Who knows - maybe I'll find a rescue bulldog?

Our dog sleeps in our bed, and has from the beginning. DS sleeps in his crib so I don't think it is an issue. Our dog is pretty spoiled.
pineapple / 12793 posts
She occasionally sleeps on the foot of the bed. Usually she sleeps in her own bed but if there's a storm she'll come up. I love having puppy snuggles. At the end of my pregnancy she could tell I was uncomfortable and would cuddle up more than usual. It was sweet.
cantaloupe / 6751 posts
Nope, she always sleeps right next to me still! I don't think I can sleep without her
pomelo / 5093 posts
No way! My dogs love to sleep on my daughter's floorbed, they're always tragic when I kick them off for her naptime. I'd let them stay if I didn't think they'd wake her up.
pear / 1769 posts
Nope, I feel like we ignore her so much more now that the baby is here that she deserves to share the bed with us.
bananas / 9973 posts
We have a little chihuahua and always joke that she is the one letting us share HER bed! lol! We already feel bad that she will undoubtedly get so much less attention once the baby comes, letting her continue to sleep in bed with us will be her snuggle time.
bananas / 9118 posts
Nope, the only thing we changed is he can't eat in the bed if the baby is there since he can be food territorial. Otherwise it is the usual sleeping on my feet, which I love.
My husband has "Boy's Bed" on mornings I work- him, the boy, the dog, and the boy cat. Me and the girl cats are not invited
honeydew / 7687 posts
No way! He's there every night now trying to soak up extra cuddles when that darn baby isn't around
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
Oh there is no way my cats would stand for that. They share the pillows with my head and if I shut them out of my room I swear they put their lips under the door and scream. It's so loud! Maybe I need to train them...
nectarine / 2152 posts
Naw, she still sleeps with us and probably will continue to do so since we don't plan on co-sleeping. I'm actually not a huge fan of the arrangement (how does a 13-lb dog manage to take up most of a queen-size bed???!?) but I'm too much of a softie to actually do anything about it....
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
We kicked him off the bed and put of the bedroom a while ago. When I got pregnant though he was no longer allowed on my lap on the couch. He's a big 80lb boxer so it was a safety issue. We didn't want him putting his paws up on the couch where a baby would be.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
He wasn't allowed on the bed before. He's 65 pounds, no room for him
