So, LO is turning 2 (ack!) in about 6 weeks. I had no intentions of throwing her a birthday party because we did a big one for her first and I figured no one really wants to come to toddler's birthday party anyway. OMG, my mother thinks I've lost my mind! I didn't think it was a big deal...Is it?
Did your toddler get a 2nd birthday party? Who did you invite?

DD got a big 1st bday party but just some pizza at home wih grandparents and cousins for her 2nd. She didn't even know it was her birthday! She does have more of an idea of birthdays now so we will do something for her 3rd, but I have no regrets about not going all out for her 2nd.

Yup. We did a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party. We had about 7 friends (3 more than the usual group), a bounce house, water table, pinata, food, and play. It was really really relaxed and fun. The kids ran around inside and out and just did whatever they wanted as long as they wanted.

I am deciding not to have one. LOs birthday is July 15 and she also turns 2.
In my town if you don't invite all babies/toddlers you are in big trouble!!! Haha and I don't want a 30 kid party.

DD had a family dinner and Elmo cake, and DS will have the same. There are some kids from day care that are having bounce house parties for their 2nd bday though!

We had a lowkey birthday party for DD the same weekend as DS's baptism. We only invited family who were in town for the baptism, and we just had a bbq at a nearby park. It was very simple; I'm not into big parties, lol.

Yes. I didn't plan to, but now she recognizes what a birthday party is and when she sees one, she lights up with "Birthday!" My friends son's birthday is 7 days after hers, so I had to give her one before she goes to his and is sad. It'll just be about 8 kids at a yogurt bar with food and their parents. Nothing big.

I spent way more than I planned, but she loved it.
Sang happy birthday for months after. One of her favorite things to play with is her wood happy birthday cake

I think we'll do a small family thing! Just my parents and siblings and probably invite my grand parents as well.

I don't think we'll be doing one. He didn't get a first birthday party either, poor kid! We had just moved across the country so we didn't have anyone to invite. We got him a smash cake and spent the day with another family. We'll probably buy a small cake or cupcakes for his 2nd birthday and that's it.

@Rubies: nope! we just went out to brunch with the immediate family, and gave her a cupcake to blow out when we got home. i'm not throwing any more bday parties until they're old enough to ask for it or have ppl they want to invite. i will do the standard dohl for both kids though.

We weren't planning to have one, but everyone asked what we were doing for DS's 2nd birthday. So last minute, we reserved a clubhouse and ordered sandwiches and pizza from Costco. Definitely smaller than his first birthday.

We didn't have one for our son. He actually didn't get a real party until his 3rd birthday. My daughter turning 2 very soon as well. We will most likely not have a party. I will make her a cake though.

Yes, we had it at Gymboree. LO's happy place at the time. There was about 10 to 15 kids and their parent to chaperone. All of the kids were 1-3 yrs old. And a four year old sibling.
On the actual day of her bday, she went to her first day of preschool, a guava cupcake, her first kite and flew it at the park.
