Like with pictures from the past year?
I sat down and put one together last night, and ended up at 99 pages, geez. I clearly have mamarrazi problems. I had a Groupon from Picaboo ($19 for a $70 credit) and still ended up paying almost $60 on top of that...
Did you make one (in lieu of or to supplement a regular photo album)? Was it as ridiculous as mine? (Or more? Someone make me feel better!)

I did!
I forgot that I did and never ordered it, but it's saved to my Shutterfly. I should order it soon, thanks for the reminder!

I take daily pictures of LO and make photobooks of those. I keep it at 20 pages though and have lots of them.... that way I can wait until there's a good coupon code for the album.

I did! I had a groupon for MyPublisher, but as hard as it was, I kept it within 21 pages because I didn't use all the pictures. I plan to make one for DD for when she turns 1 as well

We do a yearbook every year for our family. It's been just me and DH so far, but will include LO this year of course. It is always 100 pages long (the max for photo books!!). I put several photos on each page for the most part (unless it's a really good one that needs its own page), so my books tend to contain 500+ photos. The way I think about the money is that it would cost that much to develop that many photos at a photo counter, (and a LOT more than that if I was to scrapbook them with cute papers and stickers and such).

I'm going to do a 'baby book' too - so i guess that'll be photos from her first year (plus a few from my pregnancy and showing her nursery, etc).

Every time I attempt to make a photo book I get so overwhelmed. Of course I don't get past making a few pages. Instead I do it the old fashioned way and print my photos and put them in an album. I try to highlight the best photos from the past year and display the photo album at his birthday party.

Not yet but I plan to! I already have her photos organized by months and a folder with my favorites. That way when it's time to make the album it's not TOO overwhelming!

I did and used the service through shutterfly. I think they cost about $35-40 each, but I did it 18 months ago so I'm not sure about the price. I had three made and we kept one and gave one to each set of grandparents.

I plan on doing this! I haven't started yet but maybe I should so it isn't so overwhelming. I think the most tedious part is going through all the photos and picking the best ones for the book.

I'm in the process of making one.......the very loooooooong process! I am more than halfway through making a 2012 yearbook and thought that would cover it but DH has said he would prefer if we had a separate photo book for E's first year. We won't do it every year, we'll just stick with the yearbook instead, but for the first year of our LO's life, he'd like a separate book.
So many projects to do....so little time!

I made a small book of his newborn session, and a book of his first birthday. But of his first year, I haven't yet. I think I stopped cause I was at 50 pages with just the first 4-6 months. eek. And that was already $80 ish. I wasn't ready to pull that trigger!

Yes - I've been making it on Shutterfly since she was born. I figured if I kept up with it each week it wouldn't be as overwhelming, and so far so good. 
She's 8 months and it's up to 28 pages. I also have a scrapbook and a regular photo album but in this one I'm focusing on "firsts" - like first time eating solids, on a swing, Christmas, etc. as well as weekly pictures of her.

I am going to! My mom requests them as a christmas present, so I'll also give MIL one and then adapt it to be our family year book. @fancyfunction that is smart.. i've kept my pictures organized but it's overwhelming to think of uploading them all!

@Mrs. Pen: there are certain companies that lend themselves to longer books. I would do some research to figure out which companies don't charge as much for extra pages and wait for good coupons. IIRC MyPublisher occasionally runs a special for unlimited pages (up to some max... Maybe 100?) for 1 price. If you create shorter books, Shutterfly runs $20 off or 40-50% off specials all the time. Occasionally they will give away free 8x8 books.

WOOHOO! I finally finished LO's 1-yr photo book! It was 120 pages (60% off thanks to a promo). It took 6 months, but I made it before her second birthday, so I'm happy!
I don't want to see another picture for the next few days!!!! I used a new local company - I hope it turns out OK.

@fancyfunction: That is supersmart to keep up with it weekly! D just turned 1 and I am now staring at the daunting task of making his. I keep seeing ads for these "my social books" where they pull your facebook posts and photos. I'm wondering if I can add personal (nonfacebook) photos to that. OR if I can add facebook posts to another photo book. Cuz I love the idea that he can go back and see what I posted about him and what people's comments were - like all the congrats and stuff from the day he was born! Must dig in to reserach this at some point, I guess.

I just did one for 0-6 months and it was 40 pages. I will do another of the same length for the second half.
Then I plan on doing one album per year as a family album.
I don't order them until I can get a good deal.

I do books every 3 months. You don't want to know how many photos are in them and how much I spend, ha.

I do yearbooks in general, but for the last 9 years, there's been three years worth of pictures in each and they're about 80 pages.
2013 however, is currently a standalone book that's already at 97 pages, and I'm only at Canadian Thanksgiving (early October). Yikes. But I was pregnant and then LO was born in August this year, so there's just TONS of pictures that are absolutely necessary to include, and I want them BIG so the pages are flying by.
