I offered some of my gear (lightly used strollers, Bumbos, and other stuff) in the past and there was little interest. Donation centers would not accept baby gear and most of my friends wanted brand new stuff.
My good friend just asked for our Rock and play and swing....yay! I can't wait to purge baby stuff! My mom wants me to keep everything for my brother who hasn't mentioned any desire to have kids.

I would offer. As a friend I generally wouldn't ask for hand me downs unless someone offered first.
That said most of my stuff will be given to my sister who will be ttc soon.

We're not done using any of our gear yet. But when we are, I'll offer it to friends and family. I would feel uncomfortable asking for stuff, so I don't want to put anyone in that position.

I offered between my LOs and a local friend took them. She gave them back to me just in time for DD2! If she has another baby, she'll get everything in good shape back. If she doesn't, I'm screwed!!

I offered to everyone I knew! I know how expensive it can get/be, but also understand some prefer new stuff. My BFF was more than happy to take all my stuff. Now, I'm getting it back for DD, then handing it back to her when her #2 arrives!

My friends and I do a big swap 1-2 times a year. We have a little dinner party and just bring stuff we are done with and people choose. The rest gets donated. I offer at times too, and some mommy friends ask for specific items.

I offered to lend some stuff as i was keeping everything for when i had LO2. after i am sure i am done having kids, i will offer and/or sell everything.
eta. sell online i mean, not to my friends. i would offer free to friends, and sell or donate the rest.

I've offered when I had something that I thought my fiends might not have gotten as a gift. I don't think they would have asked first - they wouldn't know that I have a spare car seat or warm suit, and am not planning to hang on to it!

@californiadreams: Which reminds me we need to get together so I can return some of your stuff before your LO arrives! I might have to buy my own beco! The ergo is just not the same.
I haven't offered yet because LO is still young and using everything we have but I will offer as I know how greatly I appreciated others offering to me!

We offered most of E's stuff to one of E's coworkers. I wouldn't feel comfortable asking.

@Reese: yes, let's do something after January 13. I start my mat leave then, but not due for another 3.5 weeks. I loved the beco for the first year or so. but when L got bigger, i preferred the ergo, so you never know, you might change your mind. Ergo and tula have wider seats than the beco.

I always offer, and I get so excited when friends and family accept. It helps me purge, and it's nice knowing it will go to a good home. I only asked my sisters for baby stuff and wouldn't ask my friends unless I was really close to them.
