How many colors did you test?

Yup we painted it, but didn't sample any. We just picked a red and went with it. I do wish we sampled the color of our house because I don't really like it.

We also just picked a color. It took me foooreeeever to choose one, but I'm glad I took my time. It's a muted, pale yellow color. I

Yup! It's soooooo hard!!!!! We drove around numerous neighborhoods to look at houses and their paint colors and that's how we chose ours.

We need to and I am stressing about the color selection. The only thing we can't change is the color of the roofing, so we have to work with a dark gray. Everything else is open to debate (siding, trim, doors, shutters).

I want to so badly, but there are other things we need to spend money on first.

We got a few estimates (paint and siding replacement) last month and they were too high for us to pull the trigger. One contractor called us yesterday and says he can drop the price but he wants to start ASAP because his crew needs work now...not sure if we should go for it. I think they will be working on primer and siding repair for a few days so I have some time to think about colors.

@autumnlove: this so embarrassing but maybe it will make you laugh.
We had the whole interior of our house reprinted when we bought it. We were moved in for like, two weeks when people were going door to door to see if we needed our house painted. THEY MEANT THE EXTERIOR, and I was all "oh, no thanks! We literally just did it!" and he have me the weirdest look and walked away.
I told DH & he laughed at me because seriously, our stucco needs painted. Whomp whompppppp.

We need too!! We really like the color combo the house two doors down from us has but we don't think that we can copy that close. So we are still on the look out. Gotta save up for it.

I had a image in my head of what color I wanted and we were going to just go with one based on the little piece of paper, but my husband made us get a sample instead. Thank goodness! Once it was up, it was way too light, so we tested the darker one, and I hated that. It looked purple, instead of the brown we were going for. We tried one more that we were a little skeptical on based on the little swatch, but it turned out to be perfect! so 3rd try was the charm.

@autumnlove: I love a good deal so I probably wouldn't pass it up. Just ask if they can put up some color samples for you to mull over while they work on other stuff first.

We painted the batten board but didn't test it.

We wanted to get ours re-sided... but it was going to be $30,000- so we passed! But we picked out colors by driving around the neighborhood and finding houses we liked!

@cheert16: Dang! We only have siding on the front and the rest is stucco!

@autumnlove: When we bought our hose, we have white siding, and for some reason someone had once decided to paint white over beautiful natural bricks!
Since it would cost too much to re-surface the bricks, we took them out & added stucco. I really want to re-do the front siding too because the style is not really what I like, but I still have a roof to fix up as this year's project so we'll see...
