Did you set up an email account with your lo's name so it would be available for them someday? If so, did you set it up before or after birth?

We did, not so that it's available in the future, but so we can send out updates and pictures to family members. My mom gets a kick out of getting email from my son!
We set it up after birth because we were team green and didn't know the name before.

Yes we did. I set it up after the birth after hearing that my friends did it for their son, I thought it was a good idea! I don't use it for anything....just wanted to reserve it!

Mr. H did! He actually obsessed over getting the right gmail name
He also bought the web domain for the girl name and the boy name we have chosen so that we have those if we want them in the future.

I didn't. She'll just have to wait until she can type before she gets an email account. I don't really care if it's the perfect name, and I doubt she will either.

Yup, I did! I did it when LO was a few weeks old.

I just went and checked if our girl name (the only name we've settled on) is taken on gmail, and First Last is, and First Middle Initial Last is, but First Middle Last is not! For a brief crazy moment I almost registered it!

Don't email accounts expire if you don't use them for years? I could be wrong.

No, we won't be doing this. Who knows what the technology will be in 10 years, and we don't really want to encourage tons of computer activity (like having private email) until they are at least that old.

I did! I set it up because I wanted to save her firstname.lastname@gmail for her but who knows if she will even use it. right now I use the account for online shopping so it is VERY active!

I don't think this is something I will do. Our last name is pretty uncommon so I don't think s/he will have a hard time getting an email address.
