We did not tell anyone which names we were considering until after LO had arrived and she was named.

I'm 100% sure family members will have something negative to say about the names we like, so we'll have to keep them under wraps.

I regret telling because my family ruined a few names I absolutely loved. I still haven't settled on a girl's name because my family has something negative to say about every name I've told them. Now I'll only discuss a girl's name with DH and HB!

We haven't told anyone except our parents (who loved it) and it will stay that way until he's born! People can be patient and wait!

We didn't really share names because I didn't want to hear opinions. I told a few close friends the name we were leaning towards, and eventually went with (Evelyn). And at our shower my mom REALLY wanted to put the name on the cake and had some friends that wanted to buy embroidered gifts, so we finally made it "official." We didn't get any negative comments....other than my dad saying "well that's gonna take some getting used to"

@VEGMAMA: I know you asked Bluebonnet, but so far I either say we are still deciding, or, we've talked about it but haven't come up with anything for sure. If pressed, I will say we aren't sharing the names, but I try to start out being vague (and have totally learned to recognize when other people are doing it now!).

No. We were team green and didn't have a set name anyway, but we didn't share our short list. Mostly because we had a lot of trouble with our short lists. Too many girls, not enough boys. Plus it drove my stepmom crazy, lol.

Whenever anyone asked I would respond with their name. So, for example, when said stepmom asked what names we were thinking about for the umpteenth time I would say "We're thinking about Connie for a girl and Jon if it's a boy" (Connie=stepmom, Jon=father).

I told my BFF and my mum - both loved the name. Then I rather stupidly told two work colleagues when they asked - and they were really negative about it (but I didn't care). DH also shared with a friend - who didn't like the name (and DH did care - which made us both reconsider - but I got over it and then talked him round). I knew my MIL would react negatively so I told DH we were not going to share with her - but I felt guilty last time we saw her so we told her and, yup, she said "but that's a boy's name" (we're going for Elliott for a girl). I'm hoping it hasn't put DH off because I really don't give a stuff what she thinks!!

We did and we didn't - we shared the off the wall names and then perhaps a few of our 'top ten' list names but we never shared the narrowed down names. This was easy and fun, though, because both times we were team green!

We found out we're having a girl when we were 18 weeks but that's it. We won't share names with anyone until she's here. My aunt calls her Talulah and my husband calls her Strudel..... both work for me at this point!

We knew what her name would be but we told people we weren't sure. It was so much fun to hear everyone's (positive) reactions when they finally heard. It was nice to have a surprise for people because we had already shared that we were expecting a girl. Plus - my husband got to announce her name in the delivery room after her birth for my mom to find out so that was really special. My mom had been calling her Petunia until then

We tell people they will find out when baby is born. Doesn't mean they don't drive us crazy asking though

I'm sharing with HB but no one else! We've tossed around a few names to our immediate family only but even they won't know the actual name until LO is born. Being team green helps with this!

I shared a few I was thinking about with my sister, and immediately regretted it, because she made fun of them! After that, we told no one the names we were thinking of until we had decided for sure on Gwendolyn.

We have shared with everyone who has asked, and reactions have been only positive. It's a fairly common name with the regular spelling, so there's not a lot to react to, I guess.

Everyone I know in real life has even liked both our middle name choices, too. So we should hurry up and pick that one I guess.

At first we shared names we loved but quickly got fed up with all the commentary. So we've kept our final selections under wraps. We're team green, so it's not like people would know the name for sure until birth anyway. When people ask I just tell them we haven't settled on a top contender, and sometimes throw out some of the names we considered but didn't choose when they get pushy.
