Just our parents and a couple friends I knew wouldn't spill the beans on social media.

I was 10 days late and scheduled for an induction when my contractions started. We text our parents on the way to the hospital and my 2 best friends. My in laws jumped in the car and drove to the hospital despite us telling then to wait at home until I was farther along. They ended is sitting at the hospital for almost 18 hours until I was out of recovery.

For LO1 I didn't want anyone to know before baby arrived. But I was in labor so long everyone figured me out.

For LO2 only my parents knew. Everyone else got a baby pic by text.

With DS#1 and DS #4, who big came when they wanted to instead of waiting for their scheduled csections, we waited until it was confirmed that the they would be born that night. Once they were born, family got text messages. But, our family live states away, so there was no reason to worry that anyone would be rushing to the hospital.

With DS we called both our moms... He was 4 weeks early and we were both surprised when my water broke & then he was breech so we needed a csection. It was a crazy morning! With DD, we were with my ILs when I went into labor and then my parents watched DS while we went to the hospital so they both knew... We will tell both sets of parents this time too. They kept their distance until we were ready for them to visit and are our childcare for the other kids.

Yeah - we told family when we were sent to the hospital from my OB appointment. Personally, there is no way I couldn't tell them. Congrats on your new LO!

I texted both sets of parents to tell them we were on our way to the hospital. We wanted them there.

We called our parents when we found out I was going to be induced. My parents visited us in the hospital when we were getting settled for what we thought would be a long process.

LO was born via c-section in the middle of the night and we didn't call anyone until 7 or 8, after we'd slept for a while.

We only told my in-law's both times. With LO2 I also had to call my sister who was on call to come over to watch LO1.

Yup I had an emergency/unplanned induction so we gave our families and a few close friends a heads up. I did ask that no one came until we were ready for guests which was good since I was in labor for 43 hours. MIL showed up and waited to meet T so I felt some pressure to have guests earlier than Iwanted to.

Yes. Told both sets of parents. My parents wanted to come and wait in the waiting room and ILs waited till like 7/8am and then drove up but they were still there when she was born.

We called both parents on our way to the hospital. We will do the same for this one. Although since this one is due during the holidays, DH's parents might already be here.

More to the point @Foodnerd81: , did you tell HB you were in labour and if not why not?!

I was induced unexpectedly and almost 3 weeks before my due date so we had to tell people to help us out with logistics! My mom flew into town (I wanted her w me during my labor), my in-laws came to help w our dogs, our friend/neighbor stayed at our apt to wait for our nursery furniture to be delivered...it was a bit of a zoo! Hopefully next time we can manage a little more calmly

I didn't want to -- I didn't want any visitors until I'd had a chance for skin-on-skin/nursing plus a nap -- but my husband tipped them off anyway.

Turns out I had a 23-hr labor and a 1am delivery, so it didn't matter because visiting hours were over by the time we were done.

Nope! We texted my mom when we got to the hospital at 5 am, but no one else.
