We have a radio flyer walker and both kids loved pushing it. (still do). I think it really helped.

@chopsuey: he has an activity table walker that he loves pushing around, I'll encourage him to play with that more

I just hold his hands and let him walk all over the house. He loves it. Sometimes we spend upwards of an hour just walking laps around the house.

@rahlyrah: my LO is lazy! He will do a lap or two, then plop down on his bum!

My LO refuses to let me hold his hands to help him walk. Whenever I try, he picks his feet up off the ground and won't even stand up. I try to encourage him to use the push walker. He's such a cautious baby though that he won't even take more than a step with that before he drops down to crawl.

Walker and walking holding our fingers. I really think they just do it when they are ready.

We pulled our ottoman further and further away from our couch and got her to take small steps between the two. M also LOVES books so I would read a page, then toss the book to DH and have her go to him to read the next page. Baby steps, as they say :). M was a late walker but now she's a champ!

We tried everything, but in the end he just had to be ready. Had very little interest and then suddenly stood up one afternoon and took off!

@SeptMomma12: he's taken a few steps (two weeks ago) and nothing since I just thought he'd be rocking and rolling by now lol

No, I did not. We didn't have a walker, a push toy or anything like that. I also didn't hold him up and try to walk him, for some reason my dad was all in my face about that, but my son learned to walk just fine when he was ready, lol.

Walking while holding our hand. He was really scared to let go though. So once he took one or two steps I put something really desirable out (iPad) and he practiced walking to it by himself a bunch!

@jodyblair: Mine is the same way! Although he's not a cautious kid at all...just stubborn. My lo likes to push random things like his stroller, wagon, or high chair, but he will not push walkers...:/
