Yep! Well, we waited until well after, but at my PP appointment we found out that there was some scar tissue that wasn't healing, so it was good that we didn't jump the gun.

We waited 12w but were cleared after 6w. I just wasn't up for it....

@BandDmommy: First time, yes and it hurt bad. 2nd time around, we DTD at 3 weeks pp because I felt great! haha

First time it was about 11 weeks PP, no way was it happening before that. Hello, third degree tear, no way! Second time around it was about 4 weeks PP. I agree that recovery the 2nd time around is way easier!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
Nope, not for either time. First time with DTD at about 5 and a half weeks and second time was just under 3 weeks because I felt awesome.
pineapple / 12053 posts
nope. i felt great at about 5w and i tried to get into my OB beforehand, but they didn't want to see me before 6w, so we went for it.

@BandDmommy: I really hope that will be true for me the second time around. The first time, I shuddered at the thought WELL beyond my 6 weeks follow up appointment. I still had stitches that periodically jabbed me until at least 9 weeks.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
Nope! I'm loving all these responses saying recovery was easier the second time, mine was a piece of cake the first time Im glad we didn't wait unneccesarily since they didn't even look down there at my 6 week appt
nectarine / 2631 posts
@BandDmommy: Nope- we waited.... way too long!!! I was so scared!
I like that you say recovery the second time is easier!!!

I had a great recovery the first time, hope it's even easier this time!
We waited about 5.5 weeks and I didn't have my follow up until around 6.5 weeks. Everything felt totally normal, and I didn't admit to my doctor that we had already done it haha.

I waited until my 6 week followup. I had stitches (2nd degree tear) and I wanted to make sure things looked good and healed up before having sex again lol. I felt fine probably 2 weeks before that though.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Being a FTM I think I'd wait till after the pp appointment AND THEN SOME haha!
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
Yes! My stitches never dissolved, so it would've been incredibly painful for both of us if we tried. I had my stitches removed at my 6w appt, and the midwife told me to wait until after my follow up appt at 8w. I honestly wasn't in a rush. Ha.
grapefruit / 4441 posts
@JessKas: that just amazes me. I could barely walk at that point and was still yelping if I sat down the wrong way (and got poked by stitches)! I am so hoping for a recovery like yours next time around.

Omg no. I had a 3rd degree tear. Sex now finally doesn't hurt. 8 months pp.
clementine / 849 posts
I waited until 6 weeks.
DH worked for a law firm that dealt with medical malpractice suits with vaginal prolapse - a lot of which were caused by sex too early. NEVER will I do it.
bananas / 9357 posts
with my first, yes. But I had a 2nd degree tear. I don't think we tried until 8 weeks pp.
With my second, yes. I think around 4-5 weeks pp because I was feeling good. No tear tho the second time around.
apricot / 485 posts
Oh wow, I was in no rush. I think we waited until 10w pp. I had an episiotomy and stitches, one of the stitches hadn't dissolved at my 6w checkup so she took it out. No matter how good I felt I don't think I'd ever do it before 6w pp lol. I actually felt fine and I exercised before my checkup (starting 2.5-3w pp) but sex...nope!
nectarine / 2641 posts
Oh my, I had seriously bad tearing/stitches that caused serious discomfort well past 6 weeks (they ended up cutting the stitches out). Also, I was exhausted and that so wasn't happening. I don't actually remember how long we waited, but it hurt SO BAD that then we waited again. I finally discovered my estrogen was really low (my OB actually said "it's like a desert down there"), so then after a couple weeks of topical estrogen, we finally DTD. But well after 6 weeks, for sure.

Nope. After baby number 2, i didnt even go to my follow up!
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
I had a c section and I still waited like 10 weeks. Haha! It was the last thing on my mind.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: Same. I think we tried around 8 weeks, and it was so painful and uncomfortable I was in tears. We tried again a few times, but it didn't feel "normal" for me until at least 8-9 months.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@littlebug: same for me. We tried around 8 weeks and Noooooooo! I was finally ok around 8/9 months.... I can't believe any if you felt fine after just a few weeks!!! I still couldn't sit without a donut thingy!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@travellingbee: That damn donut was my best friend for my entire maternity leave. I was terrified to go back to work without it, ha ha!
grapefruit / 4418 posts
Yes we waited. I considered lying to DH and telling him we had to wait 6 more weeks! but seriously, who has time for sex 2 weeks pp?!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
Oh yes. I can't believe some people only wake a couple weeks!! It was still like an open would at that point
pomelo / 5607 posts
I was told to not let anything near my vagina for four weeks, and it was emphasized so heavily that I would have been way too afraid to risk it. They kept saying how huge the risk of infection was if I so much as took a bath. (And as far as that goes, I don't think my delivery was any different than normal.)

With My first we waited 5 weeks and tried. I had a tear into a blood vessel so we were careful. It hurt and we stopped.
With my second we waited 4 days. I felt great and nothing hurt when we did it that time.
pomelo / 5258 posts
@travellingbee: I'm with you. We tried around 6/8 weeks but I was so not ready. I had some excess scar tissue removed at 4-5 months pp when I went back to the doctor to see if there was anything I could do to improve the situation. It was a serious effort and lots of tears until 11 months pp.
I'm hoping I recover MUCH faster from the second one.

Not a chance until the Mirena was in place, felt fine but kept my distance. I did not want even the slightest opportunity for an oops.
pomelo / 5791 posts
I had a c-section and waited a loooooooooooooong time. Way longer than the recommended amount lol And it STILL hurt.
grapefruit / 4441 posts
@littlebug: oh man, I fogot about the donut! Son of a b.... Somehow I forgot about all this when I agreed to TTC #2! I really hope it's easier this time!
pomegranate / 3791 posts
Ummm who are you people that are choosing sex over sleep at two weeks PP?! Haha. But no, I didn't - too scared the first time, and the second te around recovery was a million times harder.
