I'm curious how common it is for parents to wait until their LO gets their immunizations before taking them grocery shopping.

I was thinking of taking her this week but my plans were foiled yesterday. I'm considering a quick trip with her all covered up. Shots are next week!

No, we didn't wait. But, we live in a small village, so it wasn't like I was taking my son to Costco on a Saturday afternoon!

We stopped at the grocery store on the way home from the hospital. I kept her in the car seat with the visor up and didn't leave her unattended for even a second. We didn't have any problems but a couple of people commented on how "new" she was from a safe distance.

I did. DH was especially paranoid and didn't want her in crowds, so we were very careful about that. I didn't need to go to the grocery store anyway. My parents and inlaws live close by and were always bringing food by and always offered to stop by the store for us, plus it was easy for DH to stop by after work, since we had so much food coming to us as it was.

We didn't wait. I've worn her every time we've gone to the grocery store. And maybe I've just not encountered it yet, but people always keep a safe distance and never try to touch her. I'm not too worried about it.

we were told at the hospital not to take her to the mall or the supermarket. so we mostly stayed home or went for drives with her in the car. If we had to go in a store one person would stay in the car with her. When she was about 7 weeks we started going to the store with her very occassionally and I would wear her in the baby bjorn carrier but people kept touching her. I HATED that.

I needed to get out of the house at 5 days postpartum after my C-section so we took her to the store for a few essentials...gummi bears, Gatorade, milk, chocolate and yogurt. DH didn't want me to leave the house but I convinced him it was ok!

We took him. DH is a doc and always says the best immunization is my breast milk (we did immunize of course) - I just made sure no one came close to him etc when in public places.

DS was born in December and we were told not to take him to stores, etc. until he had his immunizations.
We also live in Boston and there was a LOT of whooping cough going around.
