My LO is 12 days old and I have watched more HGTV than I have in years!
pomelo / 5084 posts
@regberadaisy: Yep. Mindless tv, like Friends reruns in the middle of the night on my phone while nursing!!!
persimmon / 1479 posts
Currently binge watching Friday Night Lights! I want to read more but I get way too sleepy!

I watched a lot of tv during my second maternity leave! It was so relaxing.
nectarine / 2636 posts
YES. We watched all of Dexter, Breaking Bad, HGTV...so much TV. I actually loved it because I could watch all the shows I missed out on! haha
pear / 1930 posts
Yes... I wish I had subscribed to cable for the few weeks I was home. Network daytime TV is so bad.
pear / 1770 posts
No, I've been watching so much less TV since LO was born. Our DVR gets completely filled.
nectarine / 2210 posts
A ton of hgtv here too! I had actually bought some tv series on dvd in preparation, but still watched more hgtv since it took less energy to put on. Ha!

No, I never watch TV, so it's been no different on maternity leave! Honestly we are almost never home!
nectarine / 2973 posts
So much Vampire Diaries! Sometimes there's just nothing else to do when nursing a baby all day
nectarine / 2821 posts
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: don't worry, before you know it you won't be able to remember the last show you watched for your own pleasure! Lol.
I miss those days sometimes even thought it was such a crazy time. Before I had the baby I watched miss fisher's murder mysteries and a ton of old school cooking shows on kqed. Afterwards I watched Sherlock and the entire series of
Greys anatomy from the beginning. Something else but I can't remember. Some of the cute early videos I have of my son are ruined by dramatic medical talk in the background.
pear / 1558 posts
Not me. I have read tons of stuff on my phone, but I can't remember the last time I watched TV. We only have Netflix, but I just don't have time to even watch bits and pieces of shows.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
None. That was my rule - I just didn't want to sit infront of the TV all day. So I surfed the internet when nursing and otherwise stayed busy by going places or later on by working when LO was sleeping (I'm in Germany and we have 12m of parental leave with the option to work part time. I took that option and worked 16h a week starting after 12w).

LO2 is 5 weeks now and I haven't watched any so far. I've been out and about! She is only happy in the sling, but doesn't like it when I stop moving so, when we are at home, I either do housework or dance!
pomelo / 5573 posts
Sooooooo much tv. I watched like 17 seasons of the Kardashians, and 5 seasons of the Good Wife. This time around I'm rewatching Grey's Anatomy.

@Mrs. Champagne: omg post childbirth hormones + Parenthood = bawl fest.

No, I tried to watch Call the Midwife since it was a show my DH wouldn't be particularly interested in but I suck at watching TV My husband is in charge of all tv watching, keeping track of what we're watching and when stuff is available on demand, etc. and I rarely watch anything on my own. I spent plenty of time on the internet though!

I did! Free prime for 3 months after the baby was awesome. And I watched tons of Olympics right before the baby came.
This time we don't do screens for our toddler, so I'm sure it will be minimal. We might break that rule for the Olympics again though.

Yup! I was spending so many hours per day nursing, I watched a ton of TV. I read a bunch too, but that requires at least 1 hand, which I didn't always have. TV and movies from the library were a life saver. I watched Orange is the New Black, Sherlock and Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman

With my first I watched tons of tv while nursing. She was a slow nurser and big on comfort nursing. I wanted the entire series of Parenthood that way. Sometimes she would only nap on the boob so I'd watch two full episodes. That lasted until she started noticing and turning to look at it.
With my second the only thing we watch is Daniel tiger.
(I sah so no "maternity leave" but just referring to the first few months).
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Yes! So many things, a lot of Korean/Taiwanese drama haha! I'm sad I won't have that this time around!
persimmon / 1095 posts
I barely watched any tv during my maternity leave. I guess I watched some for the first month or so during the day (never at night) but as soon as she started noticing the screen and wanting to stare at it we quit having it on around her.
persimmon / 1095 posts
@brownepiano: hahaha I'm the same way! We don't have the tv on when DD is awake but I'm already planning to make an exception for the Olympics, it's only every 2 years!
pomelo / 5573 posts
@brownepiano: The Olympics were on when my first son was brand new and it was AWESOME! I'm up at 3am nursing - look, ski jumping is on! I watched so much middle of the night Olympics.
persimmon / 1467 posts
@erinbaderin: @alphagam84: My first came right after the Olympics. But he was almost two weeks late so I spent those miserable days waiting watching figure skating all day!
This one is coming in June but I am looking forward to spending the hot August days inside with AC and Olympics.

@regberadaisy: OMG I cried every episode!!! And decided I must have 4 kids. Hahaha

Yep - Gilmore Girls! LO was a comfort nurser and would only nap well when held for the first few weeks, so I spent a lot of time with Netflix.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Ummm sooo much.
LO1: i watched all of Mad Men on Netflix plus more.
LO2: HGTV was on constantly plus Friends on Netflix.
pear / 1648 posts
No, but I did read a lot of mindless books on my Nook! That may change whenever we get around to having #2 though - mindless TV is my outlet since having DD.
honeydew / 7504 posts
I watched every single episode of Friends and Orange is the New Black. I got through about 1/2 of Gilmore Girls. So....yeah. LOADS of tv.
pear / 1622 posts
I watched more with my first mat leave - I liked watching Gilmore Girls & Parks/Rec, & Mad About You. This time around I recovered a little quicker and am trying to get things done around the house more and walk outside. We also get less channels now - since we cut cable.
nectarine / 2821 posts
@Cherrybee: I watched tv/ate dinner bouncing on the exercise ball with son in the sling! Every night! It was his fussy time and DH was working evening shift at the time.
pomelo / 5220 posts
I think I watched all of Friday Night Lights while nursing... So much time sitting and nursing or sitting and pumping!
honeydew / 7235 posts
YES - probably more so because I was on maternity leave both times in the middle of winter --- watched a lot of HGTV, Food Network & Bravo!
