With my first, I was induced, and water broke while I was pushing.
With my second, I had just gotten to the hospital. I stood up off the chair they wheeled me up from the ER in, to work through a contraction, and my water broke. I got on the bed, and my son was born one push later

Mine broke at 4am & I sat bolt upright in bed knowing exactly what just happened! I shuffled to the bathroom & fortunately didn't gush until on the toilet. Contractions started within an hour or two of my water breaking, but my labor slowed & baby didn't arrive until 23.5 hrs after my water broke.

My water broke first, but it wasn't terribly obvious. There was no gush, just a slow leak. Contractions started an hour and a half later.

My water started leaking before my contractions started and then my midwife finished the job right before I started pushing

Both of my labours started with my waters breaking on their own. LO1 broke while doing light tidying, several small gushes, contractions started 12 hours later, put on the drip 24 hrs from waters breaking. LO2 water broke getting up from the couch, lots of small gushes, no contractions other than twinges, put on the drip 24 hrs later again.

I had an unmedicated birth and my midwife offered me the option at one point, "I can break your waters and things will move more quickly, but there will also be increased pressure, or we can leave things as is and you'll have the cushion but might go more slowly". I distinctly remember saying "They both sound bad!" hahaha. She let it be in the end and my water broke on its own during pushing, about a half hour before my daughter was born.

My water broke at home the night before I was going to be induced. I couldn't believe how much came out! My contractions started about two hours later.

My water was broken by doctors both times I gave birth. I had swift labors both times, but contractions got significantly more intense once it was broken!

This is pretty interesting how many people really did have it break as a first sign of labor! That’s quite a way to start!

For my first it broke at home
My second they broke
My third it broke at home, but they broke it again at the hospital ( they said it probably broke at the top at home)

I have gone into labor twice on my own. The first time it broke on it's own to start labor. The second time it broke at 7 CM as the midwife was getting ready to break it.

With both of my LOs my water broke spontaneously (with a gush!) before I had any contractions.

Water broke spontaneously during labor with both of my babies.
With my first I was well into labor when my water broke.
With my second I was induced using prostaglandins. I had one contraction, my water broke, and then my body took over with contractions.

I had both my babies at home with midwives. LO1 water broke before labour started. LO2 water broke 10 minutes before he was born, right before I started to push and I still had pants on.... things moved kinda quickly.

Different for every birth
1 - broke spontaneously during active labor (during contractions, in hospital...but then one pocket remained and they broke it for me)
2 - induction, so they broke waters for me
3 - preterm birth/loss, broke spontaneously during labor
4 - broke spontaneously during active labor (during contractions, in hospital)
