My mom never put us in matching outfits.
I do it to my LOs and my toddler seems to hate it already! She cries when she sees her sister wearing the same thing...Hahahha.

Didn't have siblings close to my age & they're all boys but I had to LOL reading that your LO hates it already. Too funny.

UGH! I will never do this to my children. It's like my sister and I were my mom's first set of twins, even though we are a little over a year apart. We always had the same outfit in different colors. And then my twin brothers came along and they had the same outfits.
Yeah, we ALL hated it, except for my mom who thought it was cute.

My sisters are a lot older than me, so never. Thank god!!! I do not like matching. Haha. DS1 likes matching his little brother though so every now and then they wear matching t shirts, but that's it. (and I'm ok with coordinating outfits, but not matchy matchy)

Yes, we are almost exactly 3 years apart and my mom did it all the time. I'm petite and always have been, so at some point (I think when I was about 7 and she was 4), we were the same size. I'm sure people thought we were twins.

They didn't match exactly, but they were similar. It was fun for awhile, but for my 6th grade school picture/her 4th grade school picture, we were wearing these hideous similar dresses my grandma sent and that was the last time we ever dressed almost alike.

No, we never did.
@autumnlove: rats, I was hoping it would be a bonding thing this young. Oh well, I'm still getting matching jammies for when littlest one comes home!
I guess E already knows it's a faux pas to show up at a party wearing the same dress as someone else? At least she doesn't have to do the hand me downs, that may be too much for her, lol!

My sister and I were always put in matching outfits (we are four years apart). Some of the outfits were cute, others....not so much. Our names rhyme as well (I know!), so the matching outfits were kind of over the top imho.

My mum did this to my sister and I because we were less than two years apart. Seriously, we were dressed alike 80% of the time. It was really annoying because I felt like I wasn't allowed to have my own identity but I have to admit, the pictures are cute.

HAha if I had 2 girls I'd totally make them wear the same outfit.

No thank god!!!!!!!!! Especially when there is a clear age difference! When I was younger and asked my mom why people did that she said it may be cheaper to buy two of the same if they're on sale and there is a budget, or easier to keep up with the children when out and about. Whether or not this is true, I'm glad she never did it to us hehe.

Yes!! My sister was 2 years older than me but we still got dressed like twins. Ugh! Lol

Yep!! My grandma bought my sister, two cousins, and I matching stuff all the time.

My stepmother liked to buy the same thing outfits for me and my stepsister (a year younger), but in different colors.

My sister and I are only 13 months apart so we frequently wore matching outfits in different colours - more so for family events or pictures, not so much for every day. She was always yellow to match her brown hair and brown eyes, and I was always blue to match my light brown hair and blue eyes! I think it was kind of cute...
If this next LO is a girl, she'll b 19 months younger than DD and I will totally be guilty of dressing them in matching outfits in different colours! I love it! Not all the time, but just for special occasions!

I have two brothers, so not exact matches, but I recall one family pic where we all wore denim outfits, the horror!

@autumnlove: Lol!!! Sadly (fortunately?!?), only one pair of peach pants ever graced our household....and lucky for me, they were MINE and mine alone!

Unfortunately yes. My mom sewed all of our clothes growing up so there were a lot of matching outfits for special occasions. The sad thing is my sister is 7 years older than me so it was less cute and more "Awkward Family Photos."

Yep. My mom sewed a lot of our clothes so if she got a steal on a bolt of fabric in any given season she'd make us both everything out of it, Von trapp style.

There is a very large age gap between me and my brothers, so not really. However, my moms best friend had a little boy who was only a couple months younger than me and she used to sew us matching smocked outfits.
