All these threads on how much parents were home growing up are fascinating to me, because I'm sure my work schedule will evolve as Charlie and Olive start school, and I will be home with them after school.

Both my parents have pretty much worked full-time my entire life. My brother and I had a babysitter until I was about 11, and she picked us up from school and hung out with us until my parents came home from work. When we were older, my dad picked us up from school every day, dropped us off at home or whatever classes/lessons we were taking, and then went back to work.

I never felt like I wished my parents were home more, but I wonder if things would have been different if my mom was home after school. We did have hours to ourselves some days, during which time we'd watch cartoons!!! We'd probably do that if my mom were home anyway.

Anyway we spent a ton of time together as a family because we had dinner together every evening, and we went on a ridiculous number of family trips, so I never felt like I wanted them to be home more.

Did you wish both your parents, (or one of them) were home more when you were growing up?
