I really need to tone. I used to be a big runner but it's going to be a while before I run again. My midsection is so flabby from having two kids close together!

@matador84: something that worked for me was getting on a treadmill and cranking up the incline and just walking. I couldn't run either (for awhile!) but I think the incline did WONDERS for my mid-section. I saw results yet didn't overly exert myself because it was just a leisurely walk (although I did get tired of course because I had my incline on highest setting). Oh, and my legs got REALLY toned.

I did Insanity a 2-3 times a week (too hard!), after I was cleared by my doctor. I started boot camp about 4 months pp, but I didn't really see results until I had been at it for a while... like 8 months pp.

I was doing well for awhile by going to Barre class once a week...then I got sick and I haven't been in three weeks.

I walked a lot but nothing more strenuous than that until I went back to work at 17 weeks PP.

I'm always amazed at how long it takes to get your shape/muscle back. 9 months of not using your abs basically renders them nonexistent.

No I tried a few times but never got into a routine at home. I am planning on returning to the gym this/next month! It's been over a year - I need to get going on this!

@CupQuakeWalk: The incline sounds like a great idea!
I'm 4 mos PP and didn't do much except walking until about 8-10 weeks. I had a C section and a wound infection so I was terrified of using my core at all, didn't want to threaten the wound healing in any additional way. At 7 weeks the MD told me I was totally clear to do anything, including isolated core work like crunches, but still didn't. Once I started working out again, I was really disappointed at how wimpy I felt. I started running (not something I've always done) but really couldn't keep a running pace for any reasonable length of times. In the last few weeks, even without a ton of time to work out, I feel like I've come a long way!
One thing I wish I would have done immediately PP, in addition to taking more walks and the incline on the treadmill which is a great idea, is just some sit and be fit type exercises to keep my upper body strength up. I guess even lower body exercises would be ok. It is just hard to do all that and not use the core. Next time I will definitely try though!

So I'm sitting here getting a pedi in the massage chair and my tummy is just jiggling! It's so gross! I need to do 30 DS after I take DS to daycare. Otherwise I'm going to go back to work looking still pregnant!

I used to be a big runner too ... Marathons and the whole bit....I totally slacked off while pregnant and now at 6months pp I am finally trying to get back at it! So sad I used to be able to run for hours and now I'm down to a few minutes . Lol

Yes. I work out harder now than I have since I ran cross country in college. It sucks that my body just doesn't respond the way it used to pre-baby!

@matador84: You had a baby like 10 minutes ago, cut yourself some slack
I didn't really work out until I was done breastfeeding, I was super paranoid about my supply... or at least that was my excuse. I've lost a lot of weight since then, but definitely need some toning in the mid-section.

@Alivoo01: ha - two years pp and still flabby!
I worked out consistently for 4 months when LO was a newborn and I lost all the baby weight. Then I stopped being so consistent.
Now I'm getting back into it. I have never lost the flab though.
